As NYC shootings surge, de Blasio has only made it worse
New York Post ^ | July 14, 2020 | Patrick J. Brosnan

What’s amazing about handguns — apart from the tragedy and devastation that 20 ounces can unleash — is their indestructibility. Like the Rolling Stones’ Keith Richards or Cher, they are timeless and, operationally, immune to the ravages of aging. In fact, with minimal maintenance and care, a handgun from 1920 will discharge a bullet with similar accuracy as the same gun minted in 2020.

Which brings us to the matter at hand: 132 shootings in New York City in the past 10 days and the bloodiest June in more than two decades.

Our spineless leaders in City Hall and the City Council labored through all the familiar excuses and p.r. machinations: outrage at the lack of gun-control laws; scorn for an ineffective New York Police Department; talk of the depressive effects of coronavirus lockdowns. Titanically unaware, they refuse to accept that the guns and their owners never left New York — notwithstanding their impassioned claims that Gotham is still “the safest big city in America.”

Cold, and steely efficient, these guns had been hidden at the bottom of bureau drawers, behind radiators and in glove compartments, waiting patiently to be called into service. The first call to service followed bail “reform” in January. The effect of the misguided law was swift and terrifying.

Shootings surged 28 percent in the first 30 days. Empowered criminals learned quickly that carrying an illegal gun in the Big Apple was no longer a big deal. Those once-hidden handguns were now riding in waistbands, readily available, itching to hurl deadly projectiles at eyewatering speeds in a blaze of heat and smoke.

Close to 250 shootings in the five boroughs from June through early July.

7 were on Staten Island.

All of those 7 were on obama’s sons’ side of the island.

Let em keep shooting away. It affects me in no way.

Ridiculously lax laws don’t make good guys become bad guys.

They make bad guys more brazen and deadly.

#### em. They ain’t heavy and they sure as hell aren’t my brothers.

—not bad for a NY paper—although I refuse to call a gun “illegal”—it’s the ownership by a criminal that’s illegal—

The feral animals left their corners and began killing each other. These black lives apparently don’t matter and their deaths in effect reduce the criminal population with no fuss or trial or jail public expense

All urban blacks are not feral

The indefensible killing of George Floyd on May 25

Gotta keep the big lie going. Must bow down to the "woke" gods.

It is not at all clear that George Floyd was "killed". He was legitimately restrained. That restraint may have become negligent in the last two and a half minutes, while the officers were waiting on the approaching ambulance.

George Floyd was a drunken black criminal resisting arrest and endangering the well being of the cops while denying them of their civil rights to a safe work place.

He was not murdered. His body failed why he was stressed physically and mentally.

The riots are indefensible destruction of progressive American cities that are the home of American enemies

Democrats can do things that DIRECTLY result in negative outcomes including murder, AND NEVER GET TAGGED WITH IT!

DeBlasio is out there directing streetcorner stand-ins against “gun violence” (murder) that his policies precipitated.

There is video of him dropping a bag of meth (not good on the heart) as he was leaning against the wall handcuffed. I don’t why the police let him get away with it. I am sure the police defense council will make a big thing of it.

It has always been my thought that the cops were jailed for their own protection

New York City has still not felt the full effects when a marxist like Bill DeBlasio assumes real power. The police have been demoralized and their best, most effective units have been disbanded in 2021 the number of deaths and shootings especially amomg blacks and Hispanics will exceed $00% the levels of 2018 if the statistics dare be released. The MSM won’t show what has happened to Manhattan. Retail and commercial buildings areoften boarded and empty. Residential and commercial real estate values are declining and will be down nearly 20% by the end of 2021. Over 600,000 people of means will leave NYC permantly. Unfortunately they will take their vile politics with them to their new homes. The cops will not do meaningful policing or peacekeeping especially in minority areas. The result will be that the gangs and thugs will enforce their brand of justice and order on the people. Dicipline will be harsh. The police now don’t even want to accompany the coroners, ambulances or fire fighters into those neighborhoods to provide emergency services. Schools will be beyond bad and life threatening.

The Marxists will be broke and scream constantly for “Federal aid”. The refusal to provide funds will be hysterically characterized as “racist”.

New York City, LA, Seattle, Portland, Chicago, St.Louis and Atlanta will all become unlivable sewers.

The BLM Antifa crowd didn’t or doesn’t care. If it wasn’t that it would have been another incident to spark the planned protest/destruction. They just needed the right moment and they were off to the races so to speak.

Let's see:

- Release all of the criminals back onto the street,

- Cut the Cop's budget by $ 1 Billion,

- Cancel the 2020 Police cadet class of 1500 candidates,

- Have the mayor show support for the rioters and put his wife in charge of enshrining the power of the rioters....

I know you're being sarcastic but... she's fetching in the way a golden retriever is. Or perhaps a black lab....
