Johnnie Walker scotch whisky will be available in plastic-free bottles from early 2021, Diageo Plc said on Monday, as the worlds biggest spirits maker ramps up efforts to tackle plastic waste.
The new bottle, developed in partnership with venture management company Pilot Lite, will be made from wood pulp that meets food grade standards and is fully recyclable, the Guinness and Tanqueray Gin maker said.
Diageo and Pilot Lite have launched a sustainable packaging company called Pulpex Ltd to develop the paper bottle and collaborate on research and development.
Pulpex will also create branded paper-bottles in non-competing categories for companies including Lipton team maker Unilever Plc and soda maker PepsiCo, which are also expected to launch next year.

I dunno - one less glass bottle looters can use as a weapon, one less glass bottle for spoiled rich kid rioters to make into a Molotov cocktail.
Wasnt glass bottles totally recyclable? Somebody is stupid.
I’ll forever associate Johnnie Walker with their annoying magazine ads in the 1980s. Anyone remember those? The formula was a photo of two attractive women gossiping and captions like “He loves my mind ... and he drinks Johnnie Walker” or “He’s crazy about my kid ... and he drinks Johnnie Walker.” It’s like, great, just the quality that every kid is crazy about in a stepfather... Scotch drinking.
Some of the idiots have been recycling them into weapons and Molotovs lately.
LOL. Anyone remember when milk was in “paper bottles”. Stupid, stupid, stupid virtue signalling.
Whiskey in a paper container what could go wrong?
formerly known as trees.
Won’t that paper residue leech into the whiskey after a certain amount of time? Yuck.
Which causes me to bring up the ‘old question’
What stops CRAZY GLUE from ‘sticking’ to the container it is in?
What stops CRAZY GLUE from sticking to the container it is in?

If a tree falls in the woods.....etc..etc..etc
If a MAN does something with no one around does a WOMAN still think he did it wrong?
Just asking....
Since whiskey is aged in oak barrels, I suspect there is already "wood pulp residue" in it. I'd worry more about whatever is used to render the "wood pulp" leak-tight.
IIRC, they used plain old paraffin wax in paper milk containers.
Whiskey in a paper bottle sounds like wine in a box. Downscale.
Johnny Walker, now coming in its own brown paper container?
We call those oak barrels and it's what makes bourbon superior to other whiskeys.
Just sell it in oak barrels of various sizes.
