Unlike the Washington Redskins, the Atlanta Braves will not consider changing their team name. Though, the organization is discussing whether to keep the traditional “Tomahawk Chop.”
“The Atlanta Braves honor, support and value the Native American community. That will never change,” the Braves said in a statement.
However, as the Athletic’s Ken Rosenthal reports, the team is not yet decided about whether to keep the “Tomahawk Chop.”

The Atlanta Braves and the Tomahawk chop are a part of OUR team’s history.
Maybe he can be a Green Bay Fudge Packers fan. He is not worthy of being a true Atlanta Braves fan.

Fans do the chop, not the team. Consider that it is the Florida State fans that chop, not the football team. That is where it started, not in Atlanta.
Played at Piedmont Park. I’d start watching again if they changed to the Crackers. But if they did, it would be called out as glorification of white pride. One thing about debating with Revolutionaries, you can never win.

Good for the Atlanta Braves. It is good to see normal people standing up to flakey liberals in this name change thing.
Former FSU star Deion Sanders brought the chop to Atlanta in 1991 when the Braves signed him off waivers from the Yankees. Deion used to yell "Do the Wo Wo!" and chop to encourage the crowd. The tomahawk chop lead that the Braves' PA system plays during games is a recording of the FSU band, "The Marching Chiefs." You probably know all of this, but most people don't.
Originally BOSTON BRAVES until 1953 when became the MILWAUKEE BRAVES, In 1866 moved to Atlanta.
For a time in 1930’s Bostin Braves changed name to Bees
Before reverting back to Braves.
Fun Fact - Babe Ruth finished out hid playing days with the Braves in 1935 after Yankees gave him boot,,,
Name Braves has nothing to do with Native Americans, was because on the owners was a member of Tammany Hall whose members were known as Braves ……..
