What are the odds? Its a favorite expression. You will find it in my previous columns. My youngest daughter gave me a copy of Mike Lindells new book for Fathers Day. A fabulous gift. The book is hard to put down.
I prefer biographies, stories about ordinary people who have done extraordinary things. Novels are not my cup of tea. Most autobiographies are written by fairly famous people who want to set the record straight about their lives and their actions. Attempting to rewrite history, they tend to downplay their failures and accentuate their accomplishments. Mike Lindell turns that model on its head. He bares his soul, telling his life story with brutal honesty.
This autobiography reads like an improbable novel. As you read Mikes amazing journey, you will find yourself saying, that couldnt really happen. No way. Just as quickly you will say, but he couldnt make this up!
Its an easy read, written in a conversational style. He jumps from one tight spot into another. Almost all of his failures and the messes he gets into are products of his own doing. Somehow, he miraculously gets out of them. There can be no logical explanation for his escapes.
He lays his life out there for all to see. No excuses. He takes full responsibility. A man who recognizes that he lost almost everything thanks to thirty years of foolish, self-destructive behavior. It is impossible to calculate the odds that he would come out on the other side both successful and respected. Somehow, by the grace of God, he does.
Mike Lindell has become larger than life. He comes into our living rooms several times a day. He is a natural salesman. Americans love a great pitchman and he is one of the best. People dont really buy his pillows as much as they buy him. They may not believe it actually is the worlds greatest pillow. But they believe that he believes it. Sophisticated ad execs on Madison Avenue must wrinkle their noses at his rather hokey commercials. Those ads sell millions of pillows. Viewers see a small town guy who only owns two suits. He is real. Mike believes in his patented fill. He believes Made in the U.S.A. still means something. He projects an energy and an honesty that cannot be faked. That same energy and honesty radiate from the pages of his book. Through all of his tribulations, Mike never loses his God-given sense of optimism.
So what will Mike Lindell do next? With his full-throated support for President Trump, many would like him to consider a run for governor here in Minnesota. He would bring considerable assets. He has universal name ID. He could certainly raise the funds required. Lord knows, Minnesota could certainly use a strong hand at the rudder right now. Mike has the experience and a moral compass to chart a course out of the insanity we find ourselves in.
He also has that one indispensable quality, empathy. He can relate to folks who are struggling to scrape together the mortgage payment. Hes had houses repossessed. Unlike so many Republican blue bloods, he can look into the eyes of average folks and say, I know how you feel and really mean it. Mike Lindell has all the tools to Make Minnesota Great Again. Of course, it would come at great sacrifice to him and the company and the causes he loves.
All of us confront similar haunting questions. Can there really be a loving God who watches over us? One who created this magnificent garden that has everything we need? A God who loves us so much that He gave us the freedom to believe or not? To be able make our own stupid, sometimes self-destructive mistakes? A God who is there to catch us when we fall?
Mike Lindell believes there is. He offers a lifetime of examples to prove his point.
Mike dedicates his book to all those in need of hope. Readers will surely receive it. Its an offer you shouldnt refuse. Like his pillows, it comes with a sixty-day, money-back guarantee. Get yours today.
Is Lindell even considering a run?
I believe he is!
My husband is reading his book right now!
Mike’s commercials are harder to watch than Hannity.
Mike is a great guy and a Patriot and his commercials are the only ones I watch with pleasure.
Gosh, I didn’t know he was considering running for office.
He’d get my vote.
I would like to read this, he’s a true patriot.
The hardcover is very expensive, like over $40.
But the ebook is more affordable.
This is interesting.
+.
His pillow commercials are running up to four per hour. That’s overkill.
If he is as quality a product as his pillows, bedding and towels (all three of which I own and use for guests), he’ll make a fine, solid politician.
Can’t recommend his products enough, especially the towels, best I’ve ever owned.
He certainly sounds like a great patriot. Whether he is or no, I couldn't say. I do know he sells a relatively ordinary product for an extraordinary price, which requires lots of hucksterism to pull off.
I have come to believe the man is in trouble. He allowed his organization to grow to support sales growth that is now actually declining. He can now produce more than he can sell
He saturated his market and the growth is over
Yes, but I think he's gotten what he wants from it.
Personally, I'm very wary of people who try to sell me things on the basis of their handicaps, veterans' status or patriotism, or who try wring emotion out of me.
He is right about at least one thing and is man enough to admit it: Most of our troubles are brought on by our own stupid decisions and actions. It is for that reason I have little sympathy for anyone including myself. Some things we do we don’t have enough time to overcome but I suppose we can at least try.
As for his products, I can’t say but I believe he my have saturated the market for pillows and thus the branching out to dog beds and such. His advertising budget must be phenominal.
Those who let sins drive them away from God make a tragic mistake. God knows our failings, but He loves us anyway. Any believer who humbles himself and returns to the Lord will be welcomed and fully restored. As the apostle John wrote, "If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness" (1 John 1:9).
I have his products and I love them.
Perhaps his prices are high, but maybe it’s because he pays his employees a living wage. You know how we Americans are about hiring Americans, who are paid more.
And maybe it’s because he spends thousands or millions on advertising on conservative shows, with whom he seems to have a particular affection. That’s rare.
I guess it could be that he knows where he can make money and he is just using his apparent patriotism to make a buck.
(this last sentence is pure sarcasm.)
Regards.
I forgot to add my husband and I love My Pillow......
....if we travel they go with us!
Knowing about some of his addictions and struggles, and how he ending up succeeding, make them less intolerable.
Get over it. They run so often because many advertisers refuse to advertise on Fox News. My Pillow® is one of the few that is left. If you weren't seeing his commercials you would not be seeing the shows he is sponsoring.
"Quote of the Day" LOL!
It's impossible to top the Hannity watch.
The pillow theme song is intolerable...thank God for mute buttons!
