President Trump delivered a dark and divisive speech at Mount Rushmore, leaning into the culture wars and barely mentioning the pandemic.
Down in the polls and failing to control a raging pandemic, the president cast himself as waging battle against a “new far-left fascism” that imperils American values and seeks to erase history.
I'd really really love to hear the author's explanation as to why the Hans Christian Anderson mermaid is tagged 'racist fish' and why the Portland elk statue was burned.
If they can't fit either of those things in the narrative of 'Confederate monuments and symbols', then they should get zotted with a taser every time they even contemplate using that phrase.

Nobody owned that land when the settlers arrived. The indians were nomads. They’d stay in a place until they’d killed off all the game animals, and then move on. The settlers claimed a piece of land, put down roots, enclosed a spring or dug a well, built a home and barn, tilled the soil, grew crops, kept livestock. In civilized areas, improving of a parcel of land confers ownership. Wm. Penn gave settlers 50 acres. All they had to do was improve it with buildings, and work it.

And in many cases they went to war with each other and ran each other off the land.
But in any event, the United States certainly did not erect an entire mountain on that spot as the article suggests.
