The Senator thought the cop at the Wendy’s incident, who had his taser stolen, was in the wrong and guilty for shooting the guy who grabbed the taser and fired it at him.

Lets see these Senators, Judges and prosecutors give up their immunities, first.

I couldn't agree more. Immunity, while it may have some benefits, the downside seems to outweigh the upside. It allows anyone with immunity to flaunt the law, with virtual impunity. Judges do it all the time. Prosecutors withhold evidence all the time, and deliberately lock up innocent people, under a concept called "Noble Cause Corruption", where they believe the person to be bad, and any means necessary should be employed to "get" them. It's far too common in our country.

Getting rid of qualified immunity would be a huge mistake. People act as if qualified immunity is absolute immunity. It isn’t. Police can still be sued today if they have violated “clearly established law.” All qualified immunity does is protect them from suit for doing their job. As long as they stay within the law, they are protected. But if they act outside the law, they can be sued. The cop who kept his knee on George Floyd’s neck for seven plus minutes can be sued because he was acting outside the law. Getting rid of qualified immunity will possibly have the opposite effect. That is good people will not want to be cops because of the liability issues. Do away with qualified immunity police will be getting sued left and right. No one will want to put up with that. Then we will be getting cops who are not of high character. Ones who have nothing financially to lose. That is deadbeat types. And they will be much worse.

It is all Kabuki Theater. “Kabuki theater” is a derogatory terms used to call out political posturing — a performance that’s all style but no substance and all noise but no action. Mike Braun may have been successful in the private sector, but is clueless of the political forces at work on the ideological landscape. Braun’s ignorant grasp of the ideological landscape has made him a flat character with the depth of a puddle of piss. His only use is to line his pockets, exploiting the corruption of the Swamp.

I won’t say guilty but this was a no shoot situation. Why you ask? Because as soon as the suspect got free and was fleeing on foot the officers life or the life of others was no longer in immediate danger. The officers had the suspects id, his vehicle and knew he had only the taser which only has two shots and a max ten foot range. The officer could have simply stopped chasing him and this guy would still be alive and likely in custody.

If the officer had shot the suspect during the struggle or if the suspect retained the taser and engaged the officer at close range that would be completely different and the shoot would absolutely have been justified.
