It does not have to be “doable” as you say regarding warning over 65 yrs of age folks to be more careful. They can do as they like, we live in a free country and so far there has been NO reason given which makes any sense for upending the whole worlds economy....none....zip...nada!!
This China Virus in fact has been far easier to manage as far as identifying who is most at risk. DEspite what you say the pure fact is and has been that 80% of those dying from this flu ARE in fact 80+ yrs of age and this stat has held throughout the world.
You and others seem to have forgotten WHY there even was a lockdown. It was SUPPOSED to be for 2 weeks in order to avoid having the Hospitals overrun and not to prevent the spread. Well we did that and the hospitals were not even close to capacity and they aren’t close now despite the spin from the media.

BTW your claim of our being 74 times more likely to catch the virus now rather than before is a totally bogus use of stats. Multiply a miniscule number by another and you still have a miniscule number. Besides that you have NO idea how many cases there were on March 13 since we have all been hearing how the case count is likely 20x or more higher than has been reported. This serves to drastically reduce the death rate and the DEATH rate, dear DR is the ONLY thing important here.
The breathless frenzy (can I use that phrase anymore?) of the lying liars of the media cause all reasoning people to question the truth of what they say.

There is no reason to believe that the Chinese or anyone else created Covid-19 in a lab. In order to create something, you must understand how it works. We're still trying to understand how viruses work. There are ways to make existing viruses more virulent, and no, I won't discuss those ways.
Where the Chinese have culpability is in their coverup of the original outbreak. Instead of taking immediate action to contain the outbreak, they instead persecuted the doctors who initially raised the alarm. And because of that original cover-up, the whole world is having to deal with the pandemic.
As far as hurting Trump politically, the efforts of some on the right to politicize and downplay the virus are doing more to hurt him than just about anything else. All it takes is for people to perceive that the President is not taking the pandemic seriously, and for increased case numbers everywhere as restrictions are relaxed for the left to come out and say, "Look, Trump puts the economy above people's lives! He's just like every other evil capitalist who cares more about profit than human life!" In fact, the left is already saying that.
Most people are smart enough to understand the risks and to understand that measures must be taken to control the pandemic. They don't blame Trump for the economic impact of the public health response. Undermining the public health message goes against Trump, not for him, because then they see his response as ineffective.
