It's another one of those Trump Era realities best described as unsurprising but nevertheless shocking.
Three serious research efforts have put numerical weight - yes, data-driven evidence - behind what many suspected all along: Americans who relied on Fox News, or similar right-wing sources, were duped as the coronavirus began its deadly spread.
Dangerously duped.
The studies "paint a picture of a media ecosystem that amplifies misinformation, entertains conspiracy theories and discourages audiences from taking concrete steps to protect themselves and others," wrote my Washington Post colleague Christopher Ingraham in an analysis last week.
Here's the reality, now backed by numbers:
Those who relied on mainstream sources - the network evening newscasts or national newspapers that President Donald Trump constantly blasts as "fake news" - got an accurate assessment of the pandemic's risks. Those were the news consumers who were more likely to respond accordingly, protecting themselves and others against the disease that has now killed more than 123,000 in the United States with no end in sight.
Those who relied on Fox or, say, radio personality Rush Limbaugh, came to believe that vitamin C was a possible remedy, that the Chinese government created the virus in a lab, and that government health agencies were exaggerating the dangers in the hopes of damaging Trump politically, a survey showed.

The politicians helped with it, they didn’t constantly wear masks with full face coverage all the time. They uncovered their own mouths to speak quite a number of times.

But lets be real....these number jumps....are from the protests....those same folks who marched through the streets and then went to bars to celebrate their disruption of society.....and never wore masks.
I heard that same interview. Fauci dismissed the Covid as, at most, a case of the sniffles.
Fox News was the only network covering the White House briefings day after day.

All this hysteris snd these hysterical smears make me wonder if Pres. Trump's re election chances are as hopeless as the lib/commie media would have us believe it is.
I ran the numbers for my county last night. Our covid infection is 0.16% of the population, 152 cases in total. Just over 9% of the population have been tested. There have been 4 deaths, all with serious underlying conditions. The nursing home were hardest hit. Relatively speaking, this is like a slightly below average flu season where I live.
A number of people wear masks, few wear them correctly. Even fewer have effective masks. There are times when I go to the store that about 50% of the people are not wearing and masks at all.

Fox is infotainment. When I want real facts, I read and compare real data.
NEJM says masks are not useful against this virus. If you can smell through a mask, the virus can pass through.
We know DeWine (OH) has continuously lied to us. When asked to clarify whether new cases were actually multiple cases or multiple tests from one quarantined individual, he completely blew off Jack Windsor.
