The Reno Air Racing Association has announced the cancellation of the 2020 STIHL National Championship Air Races originally scheduled for Sept. 1620.
The Reno Air Racing Association Board of Directors reiterated their principal concern for the safety and health of all involved and, in light of continuing uncertainty surrounding the coronavirus and government-imposed restrictions for large scale events, has decided to turn all efforts to 2021.
This decision was not made lightly. Its difficult to capture the sadness we feel for our September Family who we wont have the chance to see this year. However, we need to approach this with safety for all involved as our highest priority, said Fred Telling, CEO of the Reno Air Racing Association. We recognize and appreciate the great responsibilities Nevadas government leaders bear as they weigh health concerns against economic well-being for Nevada as a whole. With the June 24th announcement that the state of Nevada will remain under Phase Two guidelines for the foreseeable future we cannot feasibly move forward with planning our event.
Recently, the University of Nevada, Reno conducted an economic impact study of the 2019 STIHL National Championship Air Races which found that the event hosts nearly 70,000 total unique attendees generating over $100 million in total economic impact to the Reno-Tahoe region by non-local visitors. The Reno Air Racing Association remains proud to offer free entry day for military members and veterans as well as inspire the next generation through STEM education giving more than 7,000 students free entry to experience the GRADD-NVBAA STEM Education Discovery Zone at the races each year.

If everything like this is canceling, how does the NFL or NBA have a season? Sounds like publicity rather than actual planning.
“2020 STIHL National Championship Air Races Canceled”
Wow. Never seen anybody fly a STIHL chainsaw.
I drove past Wittman Field in Oshkosh last week and thought about the cancellation of the Airventure fly-in. You think of subtracting that much money from the local economy - it is staggering. Just like the cancellation of Summerfest in Milwaukee, it has to be a total punch in the gut to the microeconomies driven by those events. We need to consider managing this pandemic, in the absence of a vaccine for the next 14-16 months - to speed the arrival of a “herd immunity” while protecting the unusually susceptible populations.
Guy went in to buy a chain saw, liked one and bought it sight unseen.
Clerk told him he should get 2-3 cords a day easy and not hurt the saw.
Guy brings it back in a week and says....It isn’t working, I have to go will be back later to pick it up.
Picks it up and returns in two days.
“Pardner, for the life of me I can’t get but a cord a day out of this”
The clerk takes the saw and pulls the start cord and it starts right up.
“DAMN! what is that noise?” yelled the guy.
I let my brother in law borrow my Stihl chainsaw. I put a brand new chain on it for him. He brings it back the next day and says that this will not cut anything.
I take off the bar cover and realize that the chain was on backwards(in reverse).
I’m sure you asked him how he managed to do that? <: <: <:
LOL!
Yep, I blame Sissylack... Newsome’s father (/s)
