I cannot express how truly sad writing this op-ed has made me. But I'm a patriotic American. And I'm an American Jew. I have studied the beginnings of Nazi Germany and the Holocaust. And I can clearly see parallels with what is happening in America today. Thank God we have President Trump (at the moment) keeping us from heading too far down this tragic path. But I must warn my fellow Americans that we are clearly headed in a frightening and tragic direction.
We must absolutely stop these lunatics, otherwise this great nation is lost.
The “starting” started during President Wilson’s time in the early 1900s and has slowly been growing ever since.

The Nazi party gained support in Germany when they were the only group who would stand up to the Communists in the streets. That got them support in the middle and upper class.

The Nazis spent years demonizing the Jews in speeches and media. Later they were so vilified, it was easy to take their houses, businesses and property and cart them off to death camps.
Ask yourself: What group is now being demonized in the same way, by the media here in the USA?
In discussing this with my mother in the sixties during some riots she said this. Not to worry. The United States is huge. You can’t take over the radio station and the airport and declare yourself the next dictator. We tend to focus in on tiny events that are overblown by the newspapers and TV. But that’s not real life.
I read somewhere (concerning Germany, if I recall) that it takes a dedicated ten percent or so of the population to steer the country into a particular direction. I think one of the differences between Germany and the US is that the experience of the typical German (WWI, Weimar, near universal riots, privation) welded them into a mindset that the Nazis were perfectly positioned to exploit. There is no such comparable bad shared experience preparing the US population for something similar. The vast majority of citizens remain unaffected by the Left’s tantrum. So, this too shall pass.
The Left has become its own worst enemy. They have turned the heat up on the boiling frog too fast and too high. In November the frog will jump high and far.
