In a letter dated March 27, a SpaceX official gave the Port of L.A. notice of the Elon Musk-led companys intent to terminate the permit agreement. The date of termination was May 11, according to the letter, which was provided to The Times.
Days before SpaceX sent its letter pulling out of the port site, Tesla began a temporary shutdown of its Fremont auto plant a culmination of its battle to keep the factory open despite orders from Alameda County that were aimed at stemming the coronavirus outbreak.
Last month, Musk threatened to move Teslas headquarters from California to Nevada or Texas over coronavirus-related restrictions.

If our Gov. wasn’t such a moonbat and the weather sucks for months on end, I’d say come to MI, you could land your rockets on a platform on Lake MI. Tons of engineers, other than it being located in Moscow on the Huron, U of M has a great aero-engrg program etc etc. He’d be closer to the supplier base to build EV’s as it is the wave and everyone with a brain in the industry knows and sees it. He may not be too late to buy a defunct plant or 2 for manufacturing the Teslas, he should have done that years ago IMHO, he could have co-located on an existing plant real-estate, I have one in mind, but that is not for here...
I keep feeling like Im living in a recent Kurt Schlichter novel
He should build it in Florida. But realistically hes not going to build it at all. We are no where near ready to go to Mars.

Even if it never goes to Mars it would be an extremely valuable rocket because of very low cost per kilogram.
The prototypes are being built and tested in Texas already.
“The Golden State has become the Molden State.”
Maybe even the Moulting State. ;-)
Hes building in Boca Chica Texas already
I have an idea to get there. Here it is. Send the cargo up in separate rockets and send it on a long journey around the sun several times to use the suns gravity as an assist. Then when it is accelerated to a very high speed you send up the astronauts and rendezvous with it. It takes a lot less energy to accelerate a few astronauts than it does to accelerate large amounts of cargo. Of course youd have to carefully plan so that by the time it reached Mars they would not have to decelerate much. And the Earth and Mars would need to be in correct alignment.
*ping*
SpaceX needs to move to Florida...
