The World Health Organization (WHO) is now telling people across the globe to wear face masks when out in public, a stark contrast from what they said just a little more than one week ago. The organization's Director-General, Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus, unveiled the change in guidance during a press conference on Friday.
"In areas with widespread transmission, WHO advises medical masks for all people working in clinical areas of a health facility, not only workers dealing with patients with COVID-19. That means, for example, that when a doctor is doing a ward round on the cardiology or palliative care units where there are no confirmed COVID-19 patients, they should still wear a medical mask," Tedros said. "Second, in areas with community transmission, we advise that people aged 60 years or over, or those with underlying conditions, should wear a medical mask in situations where physical distancing is not possible. Third, WHO has also updated its guidance on the use of masks by the general public in areas with community transmission."
"In light of evolving evidence, WHO advises that governments should encourage the general public to wear masks where there is widespread transmission and physical distancing is difficult, such as on public transport, in shops or in other confined or crowded environments," he said.

The above quotation is ascribed to Justice Archie Campbell author of Canada’s SARS Commission Final Report. 1 It is a stark reminder that scientific knowledge is constantly changing as new discoveries contradict established beliefs. For at least three decades a face mask has been deemed an essential component of the personal protective equipment worn by dental personnel. A current article, “Face Mask Performance: Are You Protected” gives the impression that masks are capable of providing an acceptable level of protection from airborne pathogens. 2 Studies of recent diseases such as Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome (SARS), Middle Eastern Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) and the Ebola Crisis combined with those of seasonal influenza and drug resistant tuberculosis have promoted a better understanding of how respiratory diseases are transmitted. Concurrently, with this appreciation, there have been a number of clinical investigations into the efficacy of protective devices such as face masks. This article will describe how the findings of such studies lead to a rethinking of the benefits of wearing a mask during the practice of dentistry. It will begin by describing new concepts relating to infection control especially personal protective equipment (PPE).
Conclusions
The primary reason for mandating the wearing of face masks is to protect dental personnel from airborne pathogens. This review has established that face masks are incapable of providing such a level of protection. Unless the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, national and provincial dental associations and regulatory agencies publically admit this fact, they will be guilty of perpetuating a myth which will be a disservice to the dental profession and its patients. It would be beneficial if, as a consequence of the review, all present infection control recommendations were subjected to the same rigorous testing as any new clinical intervention. Professional associations and governing bodies must ensure the clinical efficacy of quality improvement procedures prior to them being mandated. It is heartening to know that such a trend is gaining a momentum which might reveal the inadequacies of other long held dental infection control assumptions. Surely, the hallmark of a mature profession is one which permits new evidence to trump established beliefs. In 1910, Dr. C. Chapin, a public health pioneer, summarized this idea by stating, “We should not be ashamed to change our methods; rather, we should be ashamed not to do so.” 36 Until this occurs, as this review has revealed, dentists have nothing to fear by unmasking. Work issued us cloth masks. I joke with some of my customers that I wear the mask so that I don’t scare little kids and old ladies. Reality is, as many of my customers are dialysis patients and are more prone to the CCP-Coronavirus, I wear a mask in hopes that it helps protect them from the virus.
AFA what the CCP/WHO says, I lean toward believing that they simple CANNOT, ot WILL NOT tell the truth. When they DO speak the truth, I believe that it is purely an error on their part.
Makes it easier to identify those who are nomcompliant with State orders

Hubs and I went into Lowes the other day sans masks. Most of the other sheeple were wearing them. An old hippie went by in a grocery cart rascal and said under his breath but audible to me: “Looks like somebody forgot their masks” as he slowly motored by.
I turned and said “we didn’t forget them; we’re not wearing them.”
He ignored me. Makes it easy to see how the third reich made huge inroads with the mask police on patrol.
Good thing hubs didn’t hear him. Hubs has a short fuse especially when it comes to Leftists.

I live in one of the free states where the virus really isn’t prevalent. Over the past year, I’ve left the mainline and started attending a younger non-denominational church. They’ve been holding in person services (suggest but do not require masks) for a few weeks but today was the first I’ve attended since March. At the second of three services this AM, it was about 30-40% of capacity because of spacing and not a single mask to be seen anywhere. Was actually a little surprised but then saw a woman in a convertible going through the Starbucks drive through with one on. Its currently ninety one degrees with a steady 30 mph wind...
Wait a minute. The Who said, "Masks? What masks? We don't have masks. WE DON GOTTA SHOW YOU NO STINKING MASKS!!!"

Think about the mask issue? Is it being used to protect demonstrators during the current riots?
None of this happened in a vacuum.
