A Denver judge has restricted cops from using tear gas and rubber bullets on protesters, saying smashed windows and graffiti are a 'fair trade' to prevent demonstrators' bones being broken and their eyesight being lost at the hands of police.
US District Court Judge R. Brooke Jackson limited the force cops can use against protesters in a ruling late Friday night, which also included ordering cops to keep their body cameras on at all times.
Jackson said the safety of demonstrators and their right to free speech is greater than the need to protect buildings during protests.

Can the good guys at least use spitballs???
Just wait! Someday they will go too far!
Fine. Based on the order give them one warning to disperse, count to 30 and send the tear gas.
Release the Hounds!
Cossacks, we need to get Cossacks.
Where does this judge get his authority to make this ruling?
Is he from Hawaii?
The rule of law is breaking down fast in this country.
So criminals and those celebrating their crimes, attacking police, burning businessses down, tearing down barrier's, causing business owners to go defunct, destroying private property, and killing officers.......is AOK not to stop?
Gov. officials Protecting criminals and mobs, opposing use of police officials, means you better down well arm yourselves because all you got now is you!
He could be removed from the bench for “dereliction of duty” and the equivalent of “misprision of a felony”.
Need to know more about this fool.
You beat me to it. He has NO authority to make that ruling.
Interesting the liberal City of Seattle mayor in the Soviet of Washington required police to turn off their body cameras, for fear they would collect images of faces of rioters that could be later used with facial recognition to arrest them.
I guess the Denver judge didn’t get the liberal memo.
Obama appointed.
I recently saw a BLM demand to get rid of body cameras, after they were claiming they are needed to prove how dangerous or racist the police were a few years ago.
Toward the end of the article, it says that rubber bullets and tear gas can be used if ordered by a captain (or above) if a warning to disperse has been given and ignored. There are a number of other conditions that must be met (violence, order must be heard and/or repeated as necessary, etc.). So, it is not an absolute prohibition.
But the judge’s language in the ruling now seems to incorporate property damage (graffiti and window smashing) as elements of constitutional peaceful assembly and petition.
Since this is Denver, the ruling won’t be appealed.
......When lawlessness abounds...the love of many grows cold....
I certainly am ‘Cold’ against those in the streets every day now. And I don’t care one iotta what they want. They violently looted and destroyed peoples businesses and lives, attacked and killed officers, and celebrated those who did so...anything they’re saying now has zero meaning.
I’m hoping police officers gather against this tide toward them. Stop going into black communities altogether and see how that works for their communities.
The last vocation I’d want for my kids would be police officer after seeing what they have to tolerate and experience daily.
How about lead bullets and hand grenades?
It’s been this way since Janet Reno.
If it were me....just draw red no-go circles over the neighborhoods with trouble, and refuse to enter. The judges can get huffy and say that’s not law enforcement, but the whole thing is fairly messed up. Why would any idiot sign up to be a policeman today?
