DELRAY BEACH, Fla. (AP) — As unrest spread across dozens of American cities on Friday, the Pentagon took the rare step of ordering the Army to put several active-duty U.S. military police units on the ready to deploy to Minneapolis, where the police killing of George Floyd sparked the widespread protests.
Soldiers from Fort Bragg in North Carolina and Fort Drum in New York have been ordered to be ready to deploy within four hours if called, according to three people with direct knowledge of the orders. Soldiers in Fort Carson, in Colorado, and Fort Riley in Kansas have been told to be ready within 24 hours. The people did not want their names used because they were not authorized to discuss the preparations.
The get-ready orders were sent verbally on Friday, after President Donald Trump asked Defense Secretary Mark Esper for military options to help quell the unrest in Minneapolis after protests descended into looting and arson in some parts of the city.

A family friend in the NG was called up back in the riots of '67 in Detroit. His unit was refused ammo, they had to stand there and look scary.
His units SM was so pissed he drove to the nearest sporting good store and bought his detachment baseball bats off the owner on the spot and distributed them to his guys. They had to stand around with their rifles, but if things got hairy the bats were to be used.
My battalion did it in the LA riots.
Federal troops follow their standard chain of command.

You are right, of course, but Wallace was defying, and using his National Guard to defy a Federal Court ruling. The same circumstance held a few years earlier in Little Rock. I don’t know what powers the President has when state governors either cannot or will not see state laws against rioting, looting, etc. enforced.
I know they hate President Trump with a white-hot passion. But are they willing to let their cities burn to show solidarity with other Trump haters? There are a whole lot more people in the Twin Cities and Minnesota shaking their heads no at this than are participating in the riots. I just can’t see how this helps democrats in any way.

That’s what we’ve been saying in our house. But they must have something in mind. Who knows what evil is in men’s minds?
Yup. Decades ago when I was in the 101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) up at Fort Campbell, Kentucky, we had this duty. We were on alert for a week. We had a four hour deployment time also. We were locked down at our barracks the entire week, could not go anywhere except around our battalion area. At night they would allow people to go only to the movie theater on base where they could be called out to report back in quick time. We were to go to Campbell Army Airfield and load out on Air Force transports to go to whatever city we were going to support local law enforcement in cases like this. But, we were not MPs, we were a combat infantry battalion, four companies of grunts with M-16s. And yes, we carried ammo, but the company armorer had custody of the ammo and would issue it when the time came to put us out, if they determined we might need it. We were there to back up local law enforcement wherever in the States we were needed.

Heard local LEO in Blaine, WI telling people to prepare. Person I know about took kids and left state.
No gas available w/in 10 miles of perimeter. Friend on way home from work in Cities was able to make it on fumes to the WI border. Was told to come in to work today. No word about Monday.
Work places in the worst areas shut, otherwise, everyone I know/know about is still working in Cities or staying there anyway, even if they have family elsewhere. Some to protect their property, others out of ideology. Can’t imagine what this does to Twin Cities property values.

They obviously are. People I know who live there are staying and most are leftist adult children of good, conservative families.

There’s no words to describe what’s going on
The point is that Trump is building a wall. Parts of the old, easily scalable border fence have been torn down and a wall has been built.
He’s made progress but, considering all of the persecution that he has been forced to endure from the Demonrats and NeverTrumpers (Same thing) it’s a miracle that he’s gotten anything accomplished.
You can’t expect the wall to be built overnight.

My sons are Marines and they told me why not send in about 500 Marines in non uniform with order to patrol the areas looking for rioters, and you can guarantee many of the rioters will stop once they have had a dose of their own medicene.
Do what the British police do. They record all the ring leaders. They then find out where they live. They then go to their houses about 4 in the morning arresting them. Once in court they like soccer hooligans face up to 5 years in prison.
We have their tags, we have videos and photos of their faces. Now is the time to get the ring leaders and do not charge them with rioting but a more severe charge which can bring up to 5 years prison, and a massive fine.
