“SeekAndFind” - A good catch. Thanks for finding that article and living up to your moniker.
Watch for CCP to release prisoners to join the upcoming version of the Mariel boat lift...
I would worry more about PLA military and spies inside the Hong Kongese population
Taiwan making it clear that any demonstrator who fears arrest (or death) can come there is beautiful in so many ways.
Do they have room for 8 million?
I agree, but kept my comments short. Definitely PLA spies and agitators
Using the term “looting a burning house” indicates to me that the Chinese Communists view people as subjects and chattel.
as it appears that HK has been abandoned entoto now to the Commies, Taiwan/ROC would only be a very temporary safe haven for the refugees
Yeah lots of foriegn domestic workers from the Philippines and Indonesia are waiting for flights to exit Hong Kong, as are Westerners. No outgoing flights. If the PLA starts the killing, it won’t be like Tiananmen Square.. lots of foreigners will die as well... 350,000 expats there in total.
Wouldn’t it be a hoot if every resident of HK were to leave...for Taiwan or elsewhere!
“Using the term looting a burning house indicates to me that the Chinese Communists view people as subjects and chattel.”
Good point.
They do, of course. You are right to point out how their language reflects it.
Let’s see. Everyone leaves and leaves everything behind. The Chicoms inherit everything. It would be no problem filling the place up with Chicoms. One and a half billion of them to choose from. Would they ‘pay’ for all the assets?
Most of the wealthy HK people already have escape plans: dual citizenship with other countries such as Canada, Australia, England (not sure what your rules are in the US). Vancouver and Toronto have huge HK Chinese populations, and many people still living in HK have relatives (and often real estate) in those cities and others around the world.
A particularly nationalist Chinese newspaper, the Global Times, today said that if the Americans want to play the Hong Kong card they should play it, and then not be surprised at the results. More mildly, it was noted that the US has a huge trade surplus with the Hong Kong jurisdiction. More alarmingly, it was noted that 85,000 Americans currently live there.
Taiwan, Singapore and Malaysia stand ready to become the next Asian financial centers (Singapore is already, and with a joint US Air Base in Paya Lebar, its the place to go...)
The Philippines pissed off any goodwill that pro-US previous administrations had with the Communist Chinese lapdog Dutae. These administrations worked hard (Nonoy, Ramos, Erap) to undo the damage the socialist Filipino senators did when they kicked the US out.

I remember the Singapore Movie, Ah Boys to Men, the initial 15 minutes was a simulated attack against Singapore by unmistakable Chinese Communist forces.
So he suggested Singapore and Tokyo will likely split the spoils.
And Singaporeans absolutely hate the new citizens (all from Communist China) that are upsetting the city-states careful ethnic makeup imposed since the Malay riots in the late 1960s. Only one riot occurred since then. Indian construction workers. Even the native Indians hated them...
Singapore is carefully split between Europeans, Tamil Indians, Hokken Chinese and Malays.
