Detroit police announced they had made an arrest just hours after video of an elderly man being beaten in a Metro Detroit nursing home had surfaced.
The video is hard to watch, a 75-year-old -man being punched repeatedly by another patient who appeared to be videoing the beating himself. Local4 has chosen to blur and stop the image. But the disturbing assault continues for almost another minute, until the elderly man begins to bleed.
Online there was outrage. Dozens of people saying they were shocked. One woman on twitter asking “How can you do this? I feel physically sick.”
It was initially Ann Arbor Police who alerted DPD to the videos which had already been widely shared online. The nursing home, Westwood Nursing Home in northwest Detroit, told police today they had not seen the video.
“What our investigations is revealed so far that the nursing home was going to wherever an assault until they saw a video. We're still investigating that aspect,” DPD Chief James Craig said during a press conference Thursday afternoon.
Detroit police were able to quickly arrest the 20-year-old man who was being held on complaints of some degree of assault and battery. The 75-year-old man is now being treated at a local hospital for non life-threatening injuries, according to police.

How is a 20 year old a patient? It looks like an employee is beating the old guy. Nothing makes my blood boil like seeing an elderly person or young child being abused. The abusers deserve a slow painful death in my opinion.

Mental disability? Physical disability? there are reasons why young folks need nursing home care- nursing homes aren’t just for elderly

It sounded to me that the police spokesman was saying this:
“The nursing home was unaware of the assault until they saw the video. We are still investigating that aspect of the case.”
If the old man was wearing a MAGA hat then there will be no charges..
If it was a white thug beating an elderly black man, the media would be engaged in balls-to the-walls coverage.

The perp was I.D. by the 4 chaner’s & all his data has been posted on Twitter. He is a town or 2 within where I am in MI. FWIW, the chaner’s also dug into C.B. Ford during the Kavanaugh hearings & found out ALL the data on her bldg permits etc in regards to here home safety improvements. Without giving away too much of my background, I read what they did, saw all the holes in her story & came to the conclusion she was a fraud. Chaner research is 2 for 2 in my book.
I am guessing the young thug was a psych patient and the nursing home was being used as some kind of supported living situation, to make sure he was taking his meds. The nursing home may have specialized in patients with mental health issues plus the disabilities of old age.
Really, really bad idea mixing the two populations.
Yes it is- That is why people should check out thoroughly what a nursing home accepts before placing heir parents in one if that is what they want to do-
for instance, we now know some nursing homes have floors they will dedicate to people with life threatening diseases and viruses- that is a home i would stay avoid

Probably a majority of people agree with you, but real justice for such abusers would only happen in a truly civilized society, and therefore certainly NOT here!
