If we would’ve nuked Mecca and Riyadh after 9/11, the Chinese wouldn’t be doing this right now. We missed a once in a generation chance to provide an object lesson. After Hiroshima, people were terrified of us for a long time. They KNEW we would really do it. Nobody really believes that anymore.

I Understand Taiwan as it down to a science should China ever try to actually invade. They know exactly how long they will have to use their forces to fend off China before the US and others arrive.

Eventually it’s gonna happen. Some crisis in Red China will worry their leaders so much that they’ll look for a diversion. So they’ll attack Taiwan (which would be no pushover, by the way).

Then what would a US president do? Is it worth risking a grinding war - and a possible nuclear exchange - for some far-away island? I don’t know.

The same sort of situation exists in the Baltic states. For example, Estonia is a member of NATO. Russia could overrun Estonia in an afternoon. Would saving Estonia be worth risking a nuclear exchange?

I wonder. With the continuing problems of islamic terrorism and repeated instances of SJS (Sudden Jihad Syndrome)... Would the world be a better place? I think you can make that argument.

What the Republic of China (Taiwan) needs is a handful of Nukes. Threatening to take out Shanghai and Xiamen would get the attention of Peiking. (Yeah, I know they spell it with a “B” now. )

Taiwan also has a last resort nuclear weapons cache. Surface to surface and air to ground. Taiwan did not develop these themselves they were procured.
Most believe they were procured from Israel. Though others believe Israel was a conduit for US-supplied nuclear weapons for Taiwan.
Either way, they have the last resort firepower to make Communist China think twice before attempting any invasion. It is that deterrence that has kept Communist China at bay for all the decades.

” Nobody really believes that anymore.

I think Trump will do whatever it takes.

I think he’s demonstrated it.

I have always suspected this but do you having confirming sources? Makes perfect sense. Would one of these nukes collapse 3 Gorges?

“I have always suspected this but do you having confirming sources”?

No. No one has confirming sources that are public knowledge. This has been speculated upon for many years and numerous articles have been written over the years.

The consensus is, they do. They have never uttered a word about it but, everyone suspects this is a fact and the Communist Chinese are well aware of this and believe it to be fact.

So they’ll attack Taiwan (which would be no pushover, by the way).

China will only invade Taiwan when the leader of the free world is a Democrat, which China will help elect.

Because leftist voters are highly concentrated in urban areas, nuclear weapons, as well as terrorist attacks, mostly kill leftists. A nuclear attack would be the end of people living in the big virus centers. Actually the latest CCP virus is having the same effect, just in much slower motion.

To paraphrase LBJ: We should not send send American boys nine or ten thousand miles away from home to do what Asian boys ought to be doing for themselves.

If the Taiwanese were serious about self-defense and their independence, they would copy the Swiss (or at least, what the Swiss used to do) - after his service is up, send every conscript home with his rifle, 100 rounds of ammunition and a gun-locker. Bring him back every year for a day of updates, training and BBQ.

A million armed citizens who know how to use a rifle would make even the most bloodthirsty communist think twice.

China seems to be intent on being the 21st Century’s version of the 20th Century Nazis.

Who outed Israel’s nukes? Was it O or Willie? Surprised one of the Dems hasn’t done so with Taiwan.

MacArthur thought he would get help on Bataan too. Now, with our ships in port half the nation locked down and struggling. It would be the best time for Red China to attack. It would take weeks to gather forces to help Taiwan. If they came in swiftly and with great savageness the “Rebels” could only last days and fold up in a week. They Chinese would have help from their bought and paid for political people, the media and Hollywood. It would have to be well planned and quick. They would need a ‘fifth Column’ inside Taiwan to make it work. This would get the people of China distracted from the virus.

Taiwan is not some “far away island”, it is actually the REAL China. We fought together against the Japanese, while the Communists fought against the Kumintong - essentially aiding the Japanese. We will not let Taiwan fall, count on it. If we do, we will not have any allies ever again.

Nixon screwed us royally with his “One China” BS - all in an attempt to slow the flow of Chinese troops and weapons into North Vietnam. Had he actually targeted those supply lines inside Guangxi, we could have ended the China problem back then before they had 1,000 warheads.

Everyone assumes that the PLA is all powerful now, but they are not.

Right now they have fewer DF-41 missiles than we have mid course interceptors. Hopefully THAAD can be upgraded to cushion that buffer. They do not have a true blue water navy, and they suck at using their shiny new toys away from home. We have operated in wartime or low level warfare for the past 75 years with few interruptions, and their littoral quantity advantage would dissipate at an alarming rate in the face of our combat experience.

The South China Sea has natural chokepoints just like the Strait of Hormuz, and the PLAN (Navy) would not survive any attempt to breakout.

Their satellites would face a half life measured in seconds. All of them, leaving them blind, their new weapons without guidance, and their subs without orders, while their major cities witnessed multiple sunrises that day.

Chinese apartment towers, shopping centers, subways, and any building over six stories tall is equipped with underground blast doors and survival supplies. Those are of little use when you’re buried under all that rubble, they are just short term storage.

We understand, and fully prepare for unlimited warfare beyond what China has dreamed up for their takeover of the planet. (Except we won’t use bio or chemical weapons, they will.) They think we are weak or timid, and that they can push us because we haven’t forcefully stood up to them - our reticence is not weakness as they assume.

They should go back in history and review some photos of Hiroshima, Dresden, and Okinawa. The South China Sea would become their Leyte Gulf faster than they can imagine.

All I know is the Taiwanese know exactly what they’d be up against and for how long......and with that the cost of life.
