BERLIN - The annual Oktoberfest, the worlds largest beer festival, is unlikely to take place this year due to the coronavirus crisis, the premier of the southern German state of Bavaria said on Thursday.
The Oktoberfest attracts around six million visitors to Munich every year, with many traveling from abroad. Revelers sit together on long communal tables to swig beer, eat sausages, pretzel or pork knuckle, and listen to oompah bands.
Bavarian premier Markus Soeder told journalists he was very skeptical whether this years festival - scheduled from Sept. 19 to Oct. 4 - could take place and said he would make a final decision with Mayor Dieter Reiter in the next two weeks.

How could you even make a decision like that in April?
They should wait until June.
Idiots
This is the same country that is thinking about doing away with it because it’s offensive to Islamists.
How about have it with full body biohazard suits and then have a special straw intake valve to suction the beer and you drink it inside the suit?
Will the muslims cancel trot to mecca this year, too?
Sh*t’s getting real. (or Merkel is an idiot. My money is on that.)
The REAL QUESTION is whether they’ll have it in 2021.
