Wisconsin Protesters Enter State Park Demanding They Be Reopened to Public: 'This Is Not Nazi Germany'
Newsweek ^ | April 15, 2020 | Ewan Palmer

Posted on 04/15/2020 5:06:50 AM PDT by abb

Several protesters flocked to a park in Wisconsin demanding that Governor Tony Evans reopen dozens of open spaces which he closed amid the coronavirus outbreak.

Around two dozen people held a rally at Lapham Peak in Delafield in defiance of Evers directing the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources to close 40 state parks, forests and recreational areas on April 9.

Evers decided to close the parks after thousands visited them when the state waived admission fees.

The governor said the decision was made out of an abundance of caution to help protect citizens from COVID-19, as well as the "unprecedented crowds, litter, vandalism" which were witnessed.

"I wanted to keep state parks open for the public to enjoy during this challenging time which is why outdoor activity is listed as an essential activity under the Safer at Home order," Evers said.

"Unfortunately, growing difficulty with ensuring social distancing compliance, dwindling cleaning supplies and mounting trash are some of the challenges faced by our state parks staff. We have to address the growing public health and safety concern and protect Wisconsinites."

On Tuesday, several demonstrators entered the park after walking past the barricades put in place and held signs demanding they be reopened to the public.

"These are my constitutional rights. I have a right. I'm just tired of what's going on," demonstrator Terri Bialas told WISN.

"This is insanity. It's gone way too far. We don't live in Nazi Germany."

Fellow protester Christine Bauman added: "There's no reason that this should be the way it is. It's an overreach by our governor, and this has got to stop.

"We have to start standing up for our constitutional rights. And the ability to go out here and hike is one of them."

Add Scott Walker and Rotten Paul Ryan to the list. When it looked like Walker was losing to Evers, Wisconsin Republicans, especially Paul Rotten Ryan did zero to help him. Plus, Scott Walker ran a terrible campaign.

So Wisconsin you get what you paid for.

“because the people who use them are such awful pigs.”

Agreed. In our travels we’ve noticed the same. Dirty substandard facilities are one thing, but patrons defecating on the ground when there is a restroom within walking distance is another. That’s one end of the spectrum.

The other end is the hottie wife who is too good to go into a vault toilet that is reasonably clean. This version I find entertaining.

Exurban Chicago...wouldn’t even know anything unusual was going on by the traffic and grocery stores. Do see a fair amount of maskers though.

‘If it was they would be waking up in a concentration camp somewhere.’

I guess the person who said this should have included a sarcasm tag...

There must have been 500 people at the Home Depot when I went there yesterday.

Another excellent observation.

We can't shut down Walmart or Kroger because people would starve.

We can't shut down Lowe's or Home Depot because eventually people's houses would start to collapse.

We can't require a positive antibody test to return to work because everyone who tested negative would go out and deliberately expose themselves for the sake of resuming their income.

The rationale for this lockdown is falling apart by the hour.

In the midst of all this panicky disruption of life and Freedom, just how many “nonessential” government “workers” have been laid off? Surely, there are a “few” who are non-essential (aka: worthless). I bet the answer is “none”.
