I took a minute to click through to the published paper. The French doctors couldn’t be more clear that 1) this is a clinical report, not a controlled double-blind study and 2) This therapy appears to work as an early intervention (ie, if a case has progressed too far, bad outcomes are still likely.

Here’s a quote: “The primary therapeutic objective is therefore to treat people who have moderate or severe infections at an early enough stage to avoid progression to a serious and irreversible condition. By administering hydroxychloroquine combined with azithromycin, we were able to observe an improvement in all cases, except in one patient who arrived with an advanced form, who was over the age of 86, and in whom the evolution was
irreversible”

Oh my, can’t the FDA & CDC do something to stop this?! “Unproven, dangerous, touted by Trump”.

You can’t use the hydroxy alone. You need the zith too.

It worked on 79 out of 80 patients. Pretty good results.

There is a graph I saw that showed a marked difference when adding the Z-pak

University of Michigan is not using the Z-pak with the last thing that I saw of recommended treatment

Actually HCQ alone is effective though not as effective with zithromycin added. HCQ is also preventative.

A couple of things about France...first a huge stockpile of hydroxychloroquine mysteriously 'disappeared' from government storerooms recently, and second government hospitals are prescribing the anti-malaria drug to already very sick CV patients which is exactly the opposite recommendation of their top infectious disease expert...Dr Didier Raoult.

This is a planned failure designed to further sabotage the inexpensive generic drug's reputation in favor of a more expensive alternative being developed by their 'national champion' Sanofi.

Are you sure?

Cue the curious case of Dr Arnold Weg in New York who is fighting for his life from Wuhan Flu and can’t get into the Gilead trial. His son is a Dr (resident) who could write a prescription for the malaria drug...

Perhaps there is something in this particular case that makes it not appropriate...such as the QT issue.

Not sure what is really going on there.

Do have a link for that? I've been expecting a story to pop up about that sooner or latter.

So is every hospital in the United States.

IF ONLY.

Sadly, there are too many IDIOTS in the U.S., including some right here on FR, who despise this particular medication and are doing everything in their powers to thwart it from reaching patients. See: certain Democrat governors.

Fauci isn’t going to like this.

Fauci has said that he would prescribe hyrdoxychloroquine.

No, it was something I read on an RSS feed that combines a number of sources...definitely not main stream though. What stuck out was it had direct quotes from Dr. Raoult, regarding the French government sabotaging his research.

That should help bring down the body count in Italy and France. Too bad the drugs won’t work here (since they’re not approved).

“The primary therapeutic objective is therefore to treat people who have moderate or severe infections at an early enough stage to avoid progression to a serious and irreversible condition.

To which the governments’ answer: Use this treatment only on those in the most severe and chronic late-stage conditions as a last-ditch treatment.

That’s bureaucracy for ya.
