Massie literally should have contacted PDJT first and described his concerns and asked his advice...much younger to much older and teamwork could have ensued...now Pubbies look weak and divided...of course, small chance it was an act?

Voters must be bought, at about $25,000 a vote.

USA, #1 in voter venality.

I enjoy being lectured to by Lurch every so often. Reminds me why I’m a right-winger.

It would be like asking pigs individually if they want to run to a feed trough.

The only way unanimous consent works is if nobody objects. Therefore, if a bill passes by unanimous consent, every individual member of Congress can be fairly blamed (or credited) for supporting it regardless of whether or not there was a roll call vote.

Demanding a recorded vote and debate at that point is just theater that accomplishes nothing other than delay and inconvenience.

The only patriot in Congress! Very disturbing how Kerry and Trump reacted almost exactly the same. This whole intentional destruction of the economy and this suicide pact bill ends voting for Trump by me. I don’t vote for socialism.

Nope. There is a time to put ideological dogmas and political ego on hold. This was it.

His pointlessly tilting at a windmill he was never going to knock over probably just cost him his seat.

We need him fighting there when he can win, not making futile pointless political gestures.

Massie should be given a medal for being a hero. President Trump was wrong on this one when he attacked him.
Not to mention the bill was guaranteed to pass anyways, so what's the problem?

If Maddie was just being a Patriot, more would have went along with him. He was the only one and was just showboating.

It really pisses me off whenever I hear the likes of John Kerry or Mitt Romney, two of the biggest slime balls on this planet, criticize someone else. Massey was trying to point out that this voice vote protects the members of congress from owning the bill.

They don’t have to put their names to a DECLARATION of WAR (hardkill). Why should softkill legislation be any different?

If ever there was another List of Grievances drawn up, this piece of crap and the poopsters who passed it should be noted.

BOLO

the Washington, D.C. based Kennedy Center was given a special $25 million bailout

I thought Trump’s defense of this made sense and opened my eyes to at least considering opposing views.

“Rep. Thomas Massie was a profile in courage for standing up and demanding a roll call vote.”

Agreed

Recorded vote is required for history.
Now, they can all deny responsibility.

The legislative branch of government is broken.

The Senate no longer represents the states. It has become an elite country club for pompous politicians.

The House is full of professional politicians who pander to interest groups and big donors, not the voter.

The people vote to reelect incumbents. Therefore most Senators and Representatives have life tenure if they want it.

The political parties control the pipeline of candidates for Congress. Therefore it is virtually impossible for the people to throw the bums out in mass and replace with citizen legislators.

The political parties control the power structure within Congress - committee assignments, committee chairs, leadership positions.

The “ethics” committees are a joke. Congress does not throw out the bad apples within its ranks.

Almost all Congressmen and Senators are attorneys. Attorneys add no value to society, they are consumers not producers. Attorneys have no commitment to equal justice under law. In today’s world attorneys are hired guns committed to influencing outcomes and moving money from one pocket to another.

Socialism is Legal Plunder - The Law; Frederic Bastiat 1801-1850.

http://bastiat.org/en/the_law.html

But, unfortunately, law by no means confines itself to its proper functions. And when it has exceeded its proper functions, it has not done so merely in some inconsequential and debatable matters. The law has gone further than this; it has acted in direct opposition to its own purpose. The law has been used to destroy its own objective: It has been applied to annihilating the justice that it was supposed to maintain; to limiting and destroying rights which its real purpose was to respect. The law has placed the collective force at the disposal of the unscrupulous who wish, without risk, to exploit the person, liberty, and property of others. It has converted plunder into a right, in order to protect plunder. And it has converted lawful defense into a crime, in order to punish lawful defense.

We are watching the Constitution being shredded before our eyes with hardly a whimper from those who swore to protect and defend it.

My, how quickly people on this board went from fiscally conservative to socialist-lite. If Obama had been shoving this pork-laden bill through, we'd be up in arms about his massive spending spree. And rightly so.

No one even bothered to question where they came up with 880 pages so quickly. And you know very well that NONE of them personally read it in its entirety before voting on it. That doesn't bother you in the least?

$2.2 Trillion.

This bill effectively went unchallenged because government really has got to do something (and we all know Government knows how to fix everything)! What a farce, and you all know it. Now you guys have the audacity to criticize a man who stood ground.

It was gonna pass anyway...
He couldn't keep his political ego checked...
He was tilting against a windmill...
It makes the Republicans look divided
Now Pelosi's no longer the bad guy...

My question is, where were all the other fiscally conservative congress critters? As a matter of fact, where are the fiscal conservatives on this board?

Sorry, but we've been sold a bill of goods. Once again, we trust politicians to get us out of a mess they got us into. And we're almost giddy about digging ourselves deeper in debt.

Well, enjoy your $1200. Hope it was worth it.
