He was the 44th vice president of the United States in the George H.W. Bush administration, but for the last 20 years, Dan Quayle has stayed mostly away from the unfriendly glare of political life.
I called him to get his thoughts on the coronavirus and the current political scene.
On the virus and the approach to it by the Trump administration, Mr. Quayle said, I think theyre doing a very good job. They know what theyre doing. Echoing President Trumps optimism, he, too, is optimistic about what comes after the virus is defeated: Well get back to where we were
I dont think it will be a V-shape recovery as many people are (saying). It will probably be more like a U-shape recovery, which will take a little longer.

He should have taken himself out in 92’. Not ready for prime time and the MSM got him just like they did Sarah. At least he went down fighting.
Media treated him despicably.
A question no one cares to know the answer to. No relevance to anything happening today. No offense to the man. It’s simply a totally meaningless and irrelevant question.
That’s a keeper.
His leaving the ticket in ‘92 would not have helped. He was probably more popular with the Conservative base than Bush, Sr. Bush just didn’t demonstrate he really wanted to win. A terrible mistake that Reagan ever picked him for VP in the first place in 1980. He set back all the gains made for Conservatives and we’ve never recovered from that.
Who the hell cares? I hope he is well. Other than that, meh.

He’s still too busy trying to figure out how to spell potatoe to do interviews- so noone has seen him
j/k dan was a cool dude
Dan Quayle was treated like something lower than dirt by the media.
Give me the name of one Conservative that the media doesn’t treat despicably. The key word here is “Conservative”.
Yes, the media were unfair to him.
Still, thoughts like he expressed to Cal Thomas
Mr. Quayle says he does miss the politics, running the country, being in the Senate
make clear that current and former Swamp Creatures, even decent and well-intentioned ones, think they run the country.
That's not the way it works.
He got the Potatoevirus.

I apologize for the double post.
I agree. That gets my vote for one of the top five memes of the past three years.
The article calls his employer, Cerrebus Capital an investment fund. The company is actually one of the largest private equity companies in the US. Dan Quayle has accumulated a personal fortune stripping US companies of their assets and sending American jobs overseas. Just like Mitt Romney. Dan is a globalist power broker, not a modest midwestern former politician.
“The New Republic dubbed William Kristol ‘Dan Quayle’s brain’ when he was appointed the vice president’s chief of staff. “
“Media treated him despicably.”
I like to think that Pres. Trump watched for years, and realized better than most politicians on the right, the necessity to fight hard, be agressive, not passive.
It worked and hopefully works again.
Ben Quayle, Dan’s son, lost a bid for the Arizona Congress back in 2012. I haven’t heard from Ben since then.
