The push in the U.S. pandemic epicenter follows the president’s declaration that he ‘feels good’ about compounds with unproven efficacy, hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine.
New York is moving at unprecedented speed and scale in a human experiment to distribute tens of thousands of doses of anti-malarial drugs to seriously ill patients, spurred by political leaders including President Trump to try a treatment that is not proved to be effective against the coronavirus.
With no proven treatment for the coronavirus, and infections in New York topping 30,000, health experts say the Food and Drug Administration has moved with uncommon speed to authorize New York’s sweeping plan to distribute the drugs through hospital networks.
Planning for such a complex initiative would ordinarily take up to nine months, those experts say. In New York, the U.S. epicenter of the covid-19 pandemic, that timeline has been compressed into three days.
The effort has raised concerns among health experts about safety risks — including the danger of fatal heart arrhythmia and vision loss associated with the drugs — and of raising false hopes in the American public. But Trump’s direct intervention into complex medical issues, as well as New York Gov. Andrew M. Cuomo’s embrace of the strategy, has generated popular excitement about the drugs.
The attention by political leaders also has contributed to runs on supply and hoarding, which New York and other states have tried to block with executive orders restricting prescriptions.
New York will use three medications — hydroxychloroquine and chloroquine in combination with the antibiotic azithromycin — contributed by the Federal Emergency Management Agency and Amneal Pharmaceuticals, the state said. The first wave of patients will receive hydroxychloroquine and azithromycin.

Who are these health experts? Name them. What do they know that we do not know. I want names or STFU.
Just wait....the drugs will work on better than 80 percent of the seriously sick and will help keep healthworkers safe. Cuomo gets named a hero whose “forward thinking” saved NY...then they’ll spin yarns about how it was Cuomo who battled evil Trump to get the drugs in a timely fashion. Biden gets sent packing and Cuomo gets drafted for the Democratic pick to run for president...Bernie gets shafted again!

This second point, by the way, may have the added effect of driving down the costs of drugs, since the cost of over-testing is cranked into the prices they charge.
They can NOT draft Cuomo he did not run in the primary it had to be Joe or Bernie take your pick, but everyone touting all this crap about Cuomo need to stop it because it CAN NOT happen!!!
It was used in the asthma drug MARAX and I used to take it. They banned MARAX because that med had other drugs in it that the GD useless SOB druggies used to get ahold of to make meth out of. Dont remember what else was in it.
It worked for me and may others who used it. So they banned a prescribed med because some SOB would get hold of the over the counter stuff to make meth.
The evidence that the drug works is stronger than the evidence supporting the panic.
It would have more sense to me to test on all levels of Corona virus. Testing on only the most serious is asking for failure because there will most certainly be some deaths’

So they put down a marker with this article, so if doctors make mistakes in their own field of expertise treating their own patients, the New York Times will be able to blame it on Trump.
But if the treatment is successful, this article gets carefully filed in the Memory Hole.
The convention can nominate anyone at all on the second ballot. Could be Cuomo. Could be Hillary. Could be anyone.
It can happen.
One minute they are screaming that everybody's gonna die, then the next minute they say there's more than PLENTY of time to run experimental trials on hydrochloroquine before we actually SAVE LIVES with it.
I am CONVINCED the media WANTS more people to DIE so as to justify their desperate need to KEEP AMERICA SHUT DOWN because the longer it's shut down THE MORE IT HURTS TRUMP. American lives be damned!
Well, just to be absolutely positive these drugs are safe, give them to democrats and see what happens.
