New York State is about to begin testing drugs for treatment of coronavirus, Gov. Cuomo said Sunday.

The feds have given the state 70,000 doses of hydroxychloroquine, 10,000 doses of zithromax and 750,000 doses of chloroquine. Testing will kick off Tuesday, Cuomo said.

“The president is optimistic about these drugs and we are all optimistic that it could work,” the governor said at a press conference. “I’ve spoken with a number of health officials and there is a good basis to believe that they could work.”

Daniel Kim, an actor from Lost and the Hawaii Five-0 reboot, posted on social media that he was sick with the virus and that the combo did wonders for him.

I had the Asian flu a long, long time ago.
I was in bed, sick as a horse, for TWO weeks.

Since then I haven't had ANY flu and not a single cold.

When we were first married the SWINE FLU was around. My husband INSISTED that I get the swine flu shot. I refused because of my hefty immune system from surviving the Asian flu.
So I didn't get the shot.
My dear sweet husband got the shot AND the swine flu.

After that he never said another word about flu shots to me.

Because this drug only became widely known by President Trump, who has personally encouraged it’s use, I would bet big money that a person with a potentially life threating coronavirus case who also happens to be suffering from Trump-Derangement-Syndrome would very likely refuse to be treated with this drug therapy.

Because their mayor is a complete a—hole nobody in NY City should get these drugs.

I really suspect the reason Fauci was not at the press conference is that Trump overruled him and ordered testing of these drugs to begin immediately. Fauci seemed to have an unreasonable aversion to even considering them, when glowing stories of their success were coming in from around the world. Makes me very suspicious of his underlying motives.

The good thing about this is that it is a very old and cheap drug, with a pretty broad safety profile. It seems to help a bit.

There are 2 other drugs though, one from Gilead that was invented to fight Ebola called remdesivir, and one anti-viral drug approved for use in Japan called Favipiravir. They should both be allowed in by the FDA for compassionate use and human testing as they both also seem to have greater promise at this time. Of course, they have to be used to find out if they will work better.

"Makes me very suspicious of his underlying motives."

He's a career swamp-thing bureaucrat. Simple as that. Trying something new and innovative is not in their DNA.

Actually, I think we saw posts on Free Republic about this drug combo; and Laura Ingraham spoke about it on her show - all before the President spoke about it.

Fauci was adamant about testing and re-testing and checking the testing and re-testing and then looking at other things like really, really expensive drugs in the making. The guy might know a lot...but common sense is lacking. If it works...use it...we know it has worked. Dosing?? we know about dosing already.

Hillary is Fauci’s boss....don’t kid yourself. All you have to do is read his letters to her.

Plaqenuil, and antibiotic azithromycin (aka Zithromax or Azithrocin) could be especially effective in treating the COVID-19 coronavirus and reducing the duration of the virus in patients.

Well if the SHTF fan and 61 and 62 year olds with hypertension are on the outside looking in hopefully my five year old expired Z Pack, Licorice root and Cinchona tree bark caps (quinine) will keep us percolating. Will be rapid firing off rounds when the Zombies and Millennials (any difference?) are closing in. LOL!

I’m not sure he has ‘underlying motives’.

Fauci is a scientist; and they sometimes have their own professional blind spots.

Unfortunately, we’ve made a sort of ‘god’ of Science (and our narrow, rigid conceptions of it) over the past century or so. It’s hard for people who worship at that altar to...alter.

“Fauci is a scientist;”

His training is as a scientist. Now he is a politician.
