Countries must protect people in detention from the COVID-19 pandemic by releasing vulnerable prisoners, UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet said Wednesday.
"Covid-19 has begun to strike prisons, jails and immigration detention centres, as well as residential care homes and psychiatric hospitals, and risks rampaging through such institutions' extremely vulnerable populations," said Bachelet said in a statement.
"Authorities should examine ways to release those particularly vulnerable to COVID-19, among them older detainees and those who are sick, as well as low-risk offenders."

1. If they are at risk in the prison, they are vectors leaving the prison!
2. If they don’t have it in the prison now... lock it down! Not the other way around.
3. These people should be experts at social distancing by now!
4. When society has self-quarantined, who in their right minds thinks sending hoodlums onto the streets (people who don’t listen to authority) is a civil thing to do?!
