So what?
What good is money if people
can’t spend it the way they wish?
Oh that’s right, everyone should put it in
their savings accounts so the get 0.00001% interest
at the end of

Yes and even that interest is taxed.

How would the One Large $ be distributed if not by SSN?

Surely non-citizens are not going to be “gifted?”

Maybe they will go home!

So everyone, including illegals, will get the $1,000? If true, swell. Trump will be signing his death sentence for this November.

“What you don’t want to do is create perverse incentives for people to lose their jobs and you could inadvertently do exactly that,” said Sen. Kevin Cramer (R-ND).

Rounds of South Dakota said Republicans are considering how to incentivize businesses not dumping their workforce onto the dole.

Does Rounds honestly think that corporations care one whit about what unemployment benefits are available before they lay people off? Is he honestly that stupid?

Companies will let people go because they think it makes business sense to do so. They're going to keep people for the same reason. One thing is certain, a lot of people are going to lose their jobs regardless of whether the government increases support for unemployment or not.

NO!!! I am a non-liquid “millionaire on paper”, but have learned to live on a very strict allowance until I build my business. It took years of discipline. Let the pain soak in for 45 days, at least. It will help many people learn to save! It’s like handing out free supplies to people who haven’t learned to supply prep over the years!

Will it push me into a higher tax bracket? Then NO - I don’t need it. If then yes I’ll take it. Simple.

Like any entitlement, Democrats (mostly) will fight to make it permanent. It will become a campaign attack on Republican candidates. “He’s trying to take $1000 OUT OF YOUR POCKET!”

What a ridiculous post. This isn’t about “prepping”, it’s about the government locking down people and not allowing them to work. Otherwise, forget the quarantines and jsut let everyone catch this virus.

“...pushing for increased unemployment benefits as a way of targeting the workers most vulnerable after widespread business closures and layoffs in response to COVID-19”

Need to target it for those who become unemployed and need it. Dropping money indiscriminately from helicopters on people who are in no position to spend it right now is a waste.

You do the fair circuits? One of my aunt/uncle sets used to to the fair circuit in the PNW. Kettle Korn. They got too old in 2010 and sold up. Made a decent living at it for 15 years before then.

What the hell is the distinction per your "govt locking down"?? Its source reason is a viral organism. A successful LIFE is all about preparation. Of course, not everyone has the basic intellect to realize or even understand that, but I hope there will be sufficient pain to help certain people better prepare for if/when it's even more dire than it is...so far.

However this idea came about and whether I love it or hate it, if the GOP doesn’t let this happen November will be a problem.

Agree JW...this year is a write off, let’s make sure DJT is running things for the next four years. He knows how to MAGA.

Like most of the people in this rural area, I’m self employed-in construction, as a subcontractor-a gig worker-my customers are small, local one-or-two person contracting companies and work is already declining with customers-who are also small business owners-facing having to work at home or take the risk of the Chinese virus-you can bet your ass that no one around here is going to buy non-essentials with anyone’s money-most of us haven’t made enough to pay anything in taxes since Obama destroyed the economy-and it was just starting to get better the last couple of years.

Now, if this goes on for much longer, I won’t make enough to pay taxes next year again and neither will many of the guys I work with-we are also all over 65, so we have already made money for others for many years-now we want to make some for ourselves-it is why we are self employed. We all have some form of retirement-military pension, savings,, etc-I have military/VA surviving spouse benefits-but none of us have the kind of money to pay the bills and stay in business-none of us were CEO’s-just working class people-I suspect most of the people the pres wants to pay are just like me and my neighbors-working class small business people.

A thousand bucks isn’t a lot, but it will put groceries in the fridge for awhile until customers have money for projects again-and since I’ve been paying taxes since I was 16 years old, I’ll certainly thank pres Trump for that money and spend it on food and bills...

I’m retired, small pension (taxed), social security, wife part-time work. Just did our taxes and coming up just under $1000 short. The government giveth and the government taketh away. Who do I thank?

People are going to blow through this money on non-essentials items. Bank on it.

Yep. In the 1970’s, I went to college at a school in a lower income area of the country. I can still remember people buying groceries with food stamps, then peeling off a few twenties to buy the week’s supply of beer, cigarettes, and lottery tickets.
