FORT WAYNE, Ind. (AP and WPTA21) - Two people briefed on the matter say Detroit's three automakers have agreed to close all of their factories due to worker fears about the coronavirus.
Automakers are expected to release details of the closure later today.
Unions look forward to plants being idle.
The United Auto Workers union has been pushing for factories to close because workers are fearful of coming into contact with the virus.
Yeah, it's not like they want a free paid staycation or anything. One of my coworkers told the boss over the phone that he didn't want to come in at all because he knew he'd catch Coronavirus and die. I'd teased him the other day because he mentioned he had gotten equipment to do some lawn service this summer, and I asked him, "what happens if the Coronavirus kills the grass?" Shame on me. :^) I was at the warehouse club, and had to blow my nose a little (no, I do not have so much as a cold, I just have lousy sinuses) and a guy sped away around the corner and up some other aisle. I strolled in that direction (which was not where I'd been headed) planning to have a little fun pretending to look for stuff in the same aisles as him. What a maroon!
Who would buy Dodge or GM crap anyhow?
You don’t think Trump knows everything you just said? And yet, he is going through with it anyway. Perhaps, and this is speculation on my part, that he is privy to information that you aren’t? Why do you think they would do this if it is as simple as you say it is? Him allowing everything he has bent over backwards to try and create is being washed away. I trust him enough to know that he isn’t stupid and the consequences of doing nothing would have to be be far, far worse.
I haven’t lost faith in him yet, sounds like you have.
This is the work of John Galt./s
Personally, I think the consequences of “doing nothing” are almost entirely political.
They got cops walking the streets in Jerusalem, too, demanding to know what people are doing outside. And restaurants and gatherings are shut down. Me, I’m not in a state of constant fear. Don’t be led. It’s all in G-d’s hands, and it’ll be all right. And I also have faith in Trump. He’s made the MSM and the leftards use up all their tricks, but he’s still got a few. He’s got a trump card up his sleeve. Count on it.
I'm not at all worried about the virus itself. What worries me is that the media-driven hysteria will be far, far more destructive than any pathogen.
I wonder what the Unions will do if the factories never de-idle?
Is there a run on guns yet? If you haven’t got one, go get one now!/kidding. But seriously, guns are great deterrents for crazed mobs. Just watch any Gun Smoke epi where the townsfolk are out to lynch somebody.
Smoke meth and cook it, just like they were doing ‘til Trump revived the economy.
The problem is not corona virus
the problem is unsold inventory
I agree. I have been saying this since last week.
I agree and some people here on FR used to make fun of me being a Prepper.
Now look at the insanity over toilet paper and hand sanitizer.
The fear frenzy is doing far more harm than any virus could.
