The United Auto Workers union has been pushing for factories to close because workers are fearful of coming into contact with the virus.
Yeah, it's not like they want a free paid staycation or anything. One of my coworkers told the boss over the phone that he didn't want to come in at all because he knew he'd catch Coronavirus and die. I'd teased him the other day because he mentioned he had gotten equipment to do some lawn service this summer, and I asked him, "what happens if the Coronavirus kills the grass?" Shame on me. :^) I was at the warehouse club, and had to blow my nose a little (no, I do not have so much as a cold, I just have lousy sinuses) and a guy sped away around the corner and up some other aisle. I strolled in that direction (which was not where I'd been headed) planning to have a little fun pretending to look for stuff in the same aisles as him. What a maroon!

The workers know they are going to get paid whether they work or not. Why not take the you don't have to work option. This insanity must end, by April 90% of Americans will be whipped out financially. Kill the economy by a forced shutdown, that destroys investments (401K). Then print trillions of new dollars, diluting the value of the dollar by at least half. When everyone has no savings, just try to sale your house, no one will be able to afford it. How many people are going to pay house payments on a house that is severely under water, property values will crash. So now the middle class has lost their savings, investments and any real estate equity. All for a flu that has killed 1/100th the numbers for seasonal flu.

You don’t think Trump knows everything you just said? And yet, he is going through with it anyway. Perhaps, and this is speculation on my part, that he is privy to information that you aren’t? Why do you think they would do this if it is as simple as you say it is? Him allowing everything he has bent over backwards to try and create is being washed away. I trust him enough to know that he isn’t stupid and the consequences of doing nothing would have to be be far, far worse.

I haven’t lost faith in him yet, sounds like you have.

Personally, I think the consequences of “doing nothing” are almost entirely political.

Well, it's certainly been diminished. If there is more to the story we have a right to know. We've lost our freedom, jobs, life savings and are now led into a state of constant fear. And for what, the flu! Something is not right here and I am not going to accept it just because Trump put his name on.

They got cops walking the streets in Jerusalem, too, demanding to know what people are doing outside. And restaurants and gatherings are shut down. Me, I’m not in a state of constant fear. Don’t be led. It’s all in G-d’s hands, and it’ll be all right. And I also have faith in Trump. He’s made the MSM and the leftards use up all their tricks, but he’s still got a few. He’s got a trump card up his sleeve. Count on it.

Me, I’m not in a state of constant fear.

I'm not at all worried about the virus itself. What worries me is that the media-driven hysteria will be far, far more destructive than any pathogen.

Is there a run on guns yet? If you haven’t got one, go get one now!/kidding. But seriously, guns are great deterrents for crazed mobs. Just watch any Gun Smoke epi where the townsfolk are out to lynch somebody.

the problem is unsold inventory

I agree and some people here on FR used to make fun of me being a Prepper.

Now look at the insanity over toilet paper and hand sanitizer.

The fear frenzy is doing far more harm than any virus could.
