The Media “earned” panic and empty shelves the old fashioned way, by putting out articles at the tops of pages, sometimes in red letters, shrieking “updates”, “Shelves will empty by April...” that way they got people to “buy ahead” and a) empty shelves that would otherwise remain stocked and b) do so one month early... *smh*
How about prepping quietly and being modest about doing so?
?
I CAN NOT believe what this hysteria has done to the grocery stores, I am so PISSED at the MSM and they are SO PROUD of themselves!! The thing that galls me is there is nothing not one damn thing that happens to them for their total irresponsibility as journalists!!! There are a plethora of people who have fully recovered from this AND have we heard ONE WORD from these people to calm the masses NO, HELL NO, Trish Regan had a young lady on her show who had recovered with 8 of her friends AND this hysteria is totally unfounded!!
I went to the grocery store this morning like I always do on Saturday a.m. A man in front of me was accosting the cashier, “ I know you people keep things in the back, why can’t I get...., get me.... “. Along with profanity and a tirade. The poor cashier tried to calm him and the situation. I spoke up rather loudly and said, “ she has nothing that will protect you from your fear. You should check out and leave, while you still can, before I infect you.” Never seen someone that shade of pale before. He was agitatedly silent and hurriedly left. I coughed a few times for effect. It reminds me of how stupid my fellow man is and why I hate people and love animals.
In leiu of Toilet Paper maybe a squeegee will help...
I’ve got an 18 moth old in the house. Usually pick up a gallon, when the bottle in the fridge is 1/4 full. Hit the supermarket yesterday when it opened, and picked up two gallons, even though a newly opened jug was at home, figuring it would be bad, this weekend. Not exactly hoarding, but if everyone with a kid is doing the same thing, inventory will be depleted. Thanks.
I was thinking...some people could use a good fast
Local Wal Mart had TP monitors. There was none to be had but they were still monitoring.
This stupid man knows nothing I retired from the grocery business, the deliveries come in and overnight they are stocked on the shelves they DO NOT have paper goods ect. stocked in the back, meat, produce, some freezer goods are stocked in walk-in refrigerators HOWEVER most back rooms are small MOST space is floor space for the shoppers!!
K-cups okay at least McD’s decaf, but gone from Kroger in Michigan small town: baby butt wipes, toilet paper, bleach, other hand wipes, sugar, unbleached flour, I assume paper towels, any laundry detergent with bleach, cases of bottled water, eggs were almost gone and I bought the last large bottle of white vinegar. So there is that.
The store has signs listing items being
rationed. The list was only four things on Wed., but now up to about ten.
Down with Big Toilet Paper!
Buy one of those toilet seat bidets!
eventually credit runs out then real despair sets in
Went to Walmart yesterday, packed store, some empty shelves. Found what I needed, 50 lb of dog food. As I was checking out I realized I was the only person in line without toilet paper in the cart.
Didn’t need it anyway.
I checked my leftover emergency supplies from the horrible Obama years. I was impressed with my younger self. Some of the food needs to be disposed of, though. LOL
I found some small curd cottage cheese this morning. But all the SPAM is gone!
Since my rec center is closed for 2 weeks our new plan is to get up early and walk 20 minutes to grocery store and see what is available. Exercise, fewer people, and possibly restock from previous night. Keep my “camping food” for emergencies.
It was starting when I went to the store Thursday morning. I ordered a few staples on Amazon. Mr. Mercat already buys things in bulk at Costco. So were good. This feels like a combination of Y2K and 9/11
And eggs. Gone.
Try some powdered milk. Lasts a long time and tastes good, at least the stuff at Walmart does. Nestie Nido.
And the panic is now in full force....
