A federal judge has suspended all jury trials and grand jury proceedings for courts in the southern district of Ohio for the next 30 days out of concerns about the spread of coronavirus, according to a copy of the judge’s order. Chief District Judge Algenon Marbley issued the order Thursday, a copy of which was provided to 10 Investigates.
The two-page order issued Thursday morning says “there are multiple confirmed cases of COVID-19, in response to which the Governor of the State of Ohio, Michael DeWine, has declared a state of emergency which, among other things, limits large indoor gatherings.”
Advertisement - Story continues below The order suspends “all civil and criminal matters scheduled for jury trial” and “all grand jury proceedings” for the next 30 days in the southern district of Ohio – which affects federal courts in Columbus, Cincinnati and Dayton.

FWIW, martial law is what fills in when the normal courts are closed.
Supposedly it is up to Congress to suspend habeas corpus. I don;t know that anybody considered the possibility that the courts might suspend this on their own.
Granted suspending jury trials and GJ is not suspending habeas corpus.
I wonder how many cases will be lost to tolling of statute of limitations (GJ suspended), and kicked out for speedy trial reasons.
I wonder how many innocent defendants will rot in jail for another month?
Why is it ridiculous to try to stop an epidemic?
Probably none since the speedy trial statute includes a provision for extending the time frame under emergency conditions.
nobody gives a ding dang about safety....its about creating a massive depression.....
but "normalcy bias" is tossed about as the real problem....
very few in this country are going to die from this virus, I'm convinced of it now...just by the blowback of the deep state....just by their rush to get all their entities to simultaneously shut down, like magic...
