Socialism 101: Wealth-Hoarding
American Thinker.com ^ | March 7, 2020 | Steven Kessler

"Wealth-hoarding" is a trendy phrase among modern socialists. As Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez recently tweeted, "[t]he hoarding of wealth by the few is coming at the cost of peoples' lives" (1). Bernie Sanders, another proud socialist and political ally of Ocasio-Cortez, said the following: "What we are trying to do is demand and implement a policy which significantly reduces income and wealth inequality in America by telling the wealthiest families in this country they cannot have so much wealth" (2). Recent presidential drop-out and U.S. senator Elizabeth Warren has a similar ideological position on wealth-hoarding: a "wealth tax" on those with over $50 million (3).

Essentially, what's at the heart of these three politicians' ethos is a belief that having a surplus of wealth exceeding a certain threshold is immoral. This wealth can be confiscated by the government and distributed more equitably to those in need.

To understand exactly where and how this mentality permeated socialism, we must explore socialism's ideological origins. To accomplish this, the philosophy of the original liberal, Jean Rousseau, necessitates examination.

Rousseau is the godfather and patron saint of liberalism. Rousseau believed that human beings are born naturally good but are corrupted by society. By tinkering with society, we can eradicate evil and the problems of the world.

The way Rousseau arrived at this conclusion is of the utmost importance. Rousseau realized this epiphany by invalidating the Christian doctrine of Original Sin. He pontificated "that there is no original perversity in the human heart" (4). The phrase "original perversity" is his biblical allusion to Original Sin.

A crippling flaw in this theory is that those tinkering are the ones most likely to be the source of that evil, either actively themselves or just through the mistaken belief that they can bend society to their wills without any ill effects.

Individuals are born as crazy narcissists.

Socialization is to be applied by the parents.

Ahhh, I see. They’ve started slipping the heretofore unheard of “wealth inequality” in there now. Jerks.

I’ve read there are two ways to create “crazy people”
One way is to totally abuse them mentally / spiritually ..which often includes physical abuse.
Or, to spoil them rotten...give them everything they want.

The uber rich are people. A Marxist government is run by people. “People” regardless of the governmental system, are responsible for running the government. “People” are the common corrupting influence of ANY system.

Rich folks in business usually try to convince you to buy their product. If they are not successful at that to their liking, they sometimes try to manipulate government to improve their “game” and increase their take. Marxists take over government and try to forcibly take your assets and income away from you. In either case, corrupt PEOPLE are at work trying separate you from your money.

Many rich people get that way because they are corrupt. ALL Marxist government leaders are corrupt. Choosing Marxism is turning a chance encounter with corruption into a certain encounter with corruption. It is a foolish choice.

Not many people actually hoard wealth. What they do is put it to work, and when wealth goes to work, people go to work too.

So the really wealthy will hire armed security, and say "Come and take it".

Being wealthy is the incentive that creates businesses and jobs and eliminates poverty.

Socialism is the poverty creator.

You beat me to it! Socialist progs are not smart enough to understand wealth nor how to obtain it. They think it’s hoarded money stuffed in a vault or under a mattress whereas it’s put to work in banks, industry, and real estate. It supplies little business guys like me with millions of dollars to create! I’ve put $5.4 million of revenue to work in residential renovations from capital assets of the wealthy. I don’t want a dime of that in Bernie’s worthless paws. His beta male “Bro” commies are nothing more than consumers.

The author points out Rousseau's fairy tale.

It is false from start to finish. It is hard to believe any person can look at the evidence and believe Rousseau's fabrication.

Man was solitary? Never.

Man did not have possessions? Never happened.

Most animals are territorial, and will fight very hard, often to the death, to defend their territory.

What Rousseau found is that people who want to believe in the big rock candy mountain, accept his fairy tale as proof they can get something for nothing.

Even under socialism, as with Communism, Marxism, etc., there will always be have and have-nots. Marx and Engels were idiots.

Or as people with jobs who work hard call it, saving and being thrifty.

AOC is on to us. The reason rich people buy big houses is so that they can have big back yards in which to bury their millions and billions of hoarded dollars. What is really needed is shovel registration with tracking chips so that the government can know where to dig. Those dollars should be taken and reinvested in government in things that would really help the country, like increasing the salaries of public employees and increasing welfare benefits, because transfer payment driven consumption is the best strategy for economic growth.
