Thank you. That’s what she has been watching. Is suppose to pick her daughter up at airport this evening. Not the one destroyed. So everything seems to be fine for her.

You’re welcome.
Sounds like she’d already made the right choice. :-)
I’ve flipped around to the other channels as well but have mainly watched 5. Just been our news channel of choice for many years.

I hope she doesn’t have any problems getting to the airport and back. Traffic can be a bear ANY day in Nashville but is probably worse today because of street closures.

Hubby just came in so it’s time to go do our civic duty - - vote. :-)

You went to bed while it was happening??

Here on the NE coast, we mostly have hurricanes and altho they can be destructive, they are nothing like other storms. Aside from floods or fires, you never know when or where an earthquake will strike. With tornados, you may know they are in your area, but if you are in the center of one, it probably has more destruction of all. And you never know if you will be in its line. I pray for those who were affected today, especially those who lost loved ones. So sad.

Heck no! You know me better than that! Or should after all these years. LOL

I didn't go to bed until 7 this morning and the storms were long over by then. I stayed up that late because we weren't hit with our storms - weaker, fortunately - until 6:30.

I was a little surprised they were still covering it this afternoon when I woke up but as bad as it was, I can understand. Channels 5 and 2 are STILL covering it this evening while Channel 4 is covering the elections.

Could be she’ll be needed at the hospital tonight since there were several injuries. They’ll need all the hands on duty they can get, I imagine.

I hope the trip to and from the airport wasn’t too much of a pain.

I’m in Lebanon about 25 miles east of Nashville. Tornadoes went from Mt. Juliet to about 10 miles east. Tornadoes stayed about 200 yards to 500 yards north of I-40. A lot of houses destroyed in Mt. Juliet. Many businesses with no power and accepted cash only if they were open at all. Mostly fallen trees and broken windows and roof damage to houses in Lebanon. Many, many power poles blown down.

My wife and brother and I took the truck and chainsaw and cleared trees off houses and out of driveways within 3 miles of our house.

We had no damage at all. Power was out from 1:30 am until about 4:30 pm. Internet is still out. Using my cell as a hotspot.

My daughter is at school at TTU in Cookeville where 18 are confirmed dead and 77 still unaccounted for. Search crews have been called off because it is too dark and dangerous to stumble around with all the debris.

Glad you were lucky enough to be spared. That tornado was a monster and seeing the destruction on TV today has been mind-boggling. I know the people you and your wife helped out today deeply appreciated it. We’ve been in their position a couple of times and know how much a pair or two of extra hands makes.

Cookeville must have been really hammered since they have so many people unaccounted for. I heard the one that ran south of I-40 was the stronger one of the two and that one just missed my brother’s place.

We missed out on this round of tornados in Estill Springs, thank goodness. That last round clobbered Tullahoma pretty hard and we caught the southern edge of that one as it passed. No damage, fortunately, and I still don’t know how we got that lucky. The wind was ferocious.

This has not been a fun winter with all the tornados that have ripped through the state. I’m not looking forward to tornado season at all!

Cookeville took a terrible hit.

I am praying for everyone down that way.

I heard a news report early today saying 22 were dead. Is there a more recent figure?

Yes, unfortunately the toll is up to 25 now (according to USA Today)...Fox has it at 22 but that story is 12 hours old:

News Channel 5 reported 24 dead on the 10:00 news. It had been up to 25 but they said it was learned one person died of causes not related to the tornado.
It’s sad that anyone died but I’m glad the number is as low as it is. I thought it would be much higher considering the destruction I’ve seen on TV.

Horrible tragedy. It looks like a war zone.

See drone footage of the damage to Nashville:
