Anxious shoppers have descended on California supermarkets, stocking up on supplies as Coronavirus panic grips the West Coast. The state has become a Cornoavirus hot spot, with more than half a dozen residents diagnosed with the disease in recent days. Late this week, two Northern California residents were revealed to be confirmed cases despite having no known contact with anyone else who was infected. State officials say they are bracing for similar cases of people contracting the disease from an 'unknown origin' and nervous locals are taking no chances.

I think the actual impacts of this are grealy overblown(the risk to the average persons health, the risk to the economy is a whole other story...), but none-the-less have been stockpiling supplies as well - always a good idea anyway, and only buying things that I will be used one way or the other.

I find it funny people buying bottled water when even if the virus hits hard the taps will still be running.

I was thinking about that too. But, if the water plant is closed due to an outbreak at the facility...how does the water get treated to a potable level?

The DM rag was already caught recycling old photos from other weather events to create panic this week .
The is the second phony panic trash article
DM is scum and a lying rag . Arrest the staff for trying to incite a riot .
Raid the DM office and drag them away before they do real harm .

“I find it funny people buying bottled water when even if the virus hits hard the taps will still be running.”

Maybe the reasoning is that, in a zombie apocalypse, the zombies aren’t going to show up for work at the water company?

But having some extra water and food around the house is a good idea in general. Too many people get all their meals outside the home or have very little in the kitchen shelves & freezer.

This paranoia and over reaction, while typical for emotional decision makers, might lead to a few finally deciding to prepare long term for a real emergency, not this media made-up one called coroniavirus.

It’s a virus hot spot because of 10s of thousands of cases?

Come on man, has the country and too many on this board lost their minds?

If my wife told me to go buy extra water, I’d come home with extra cases of beer :)

I see you also raised the zombie apocalypse scenario where no workers show up, too.

In spite of being called stupid by Freepers that think being prepared is well, stupid, I stay prepared. Not necessarily out of fear of this virus but it’s just smart. We keep a supply of OTC meds, medical supplies, face masks, and dry goods, especially in flu season. During flu season I do wear a mask to crowded stores like Wal-Mart, the drugstore, walk-in clinic, ER, etc. since I have asthma and don’t need the flu. I would rather the sick people that are in public wear them but I’m not going to trust others to do the right thing. My husband does it too since he’s 82 and his immune systems isn’t as good as it once was.

Media hype doesn’t make me do anything. I ignore them. My thought is that sooner or later China will develop a pandemic worthy virus and turn it loose. Never trust anything out of China. If not this virus, maybe the next, or the next.

Don’t live in fear but don’t stop yourself from sensible preparations because of hateful words, name calling, and general nastiness from other Freepers.

As alice cooper sez “welcome to your nightmare” I hope you like it! This is a great example of the people trusting their local rat controlled government to protect them, and they continue to trust them and give them more power to protect everyone else but them

California is worried about some undocumented contact? They have undocumented disease walking across the border everyday and now they are worried about it? They are getting the government they voted for.

Nothing wrong with being prepared.

Ice storm, hurricane, virus - never hurts to have a supply of basics you use every day on hand.

It’s a virus hot spot because of the ever-increasing homeless camps (empowered by Dei Leftists) responsible for urinating and defecating on public sidewalks, and by their filthy way of living attracting thousands of rodents, roaches, and other vermin.

Where I live, we are not on a big water treatment plant system. Which in the blackout of the east coast, proved beneficial as we still had running water, clean, etx. Elsewhere they had to bring in pumper trucks of water for cities.

But in the case of a localized outbreak in my college town...if our water plant gets shut down...yeah...it’s zombie time. LOL.

“I find it funny people buying bottled water when even if the virus hits hard the taps will still be running”

And virus or no virus it will still taste like crap. Our refrigerator water filter does a great job with horrible tasting tap water. We reserve the bottles for the car.
