Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) used her Christian faith to ardently defend the rights of LGBTQ Americans during a congressional committee hearing on Thursday ― calling out the “bigotry” of those who use Christianity to discriminate against this marginalized community.
The lawmaker suggested that Jesus himself would be “maligned as a radical” by today’s Congress for his message of love and inclusion.
She said it strikes her that “if Christ himself walked through these doors and said what he said thousands of years ago ― that we should love our neighbor and our enemy, that we should welcome the stranger, fight for the least of us, that it is easier ... for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to get into a kingdom of heaven ― he would be maligned as a radical and rejected from these doors.”
Ocasio-Cortez was speaking at a Committee on Oversight and Reform hearing on the ways the Trump administration has tried to undermine LGBTQ rights.

AOC is right in one way. In todays US Congress, dominated by Democrats, Jesus would not be loved or admired. He would go to abortion clinics and the US Congress and overturn the tables and using a whip, clear out the building, “you hypocrites!”

And I can certainly see him described that way negatively by a party which has platforms advocating things like coveting that which is their neighbors, and killing humans. They run on it.
Actually Jesus said homosexuals and other sexually immoral people will not be saved (and are going to Hell). Revelation 22. (The term “dogs” comes from Leviticus and is the Jewish term for homosexual.)
I get very tired of the “Jesus never said anything against A,B, or C” argument. Jesus said you need to be obedient to God’s commands and enter by the narrow gate, and most people are going to Hell because they are in rebellion against God.

Jesus said do unto others. NOT send the government troops to take what you have, take a big chunk off the top for the government, and then buy the votes of those who you give it to.
There is a point in Scripture where Christ had said some hard things that resulted in many who had been following Him departing and the He asked the 12 if they would depart too.
As you point out Matthew 19:4 would cause many to stumble these days ... but Romans 1:18-32 also applies because rather that stumbling and openly departing ... which though bad could be worse ...people these days seem eager to stumble and then on to expounding their churchiness despite terrible doctrine and unrepentance ... which is about the worst.
It is certainly a good thing to cling to the Lord on the actual terms offered by the Lord (as the disciples said, to whom shall we go, you have the words of eternal life) ... but wearing a proverbial Jesus Mask that hides a spiritual wolf beneath it doesn’t do anyone any good.
