DHS Advises Americans To Store Two Weeks Of Food, Water For Coronavirus Prep
Breitbart ^ | 2-26-2020 | Bob Price

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security offers tips for planning for a possible pandemic in relation to the Coronavirus on a preparedness website.

Ready.gov now contains a topic titled, “Human Coronavirus — Know the facts about Coronavirus. Public health is everyone’s responsibility.” That website redirects to recommendations for how to prepare for a possible pandemic. DHS recommends storing a two-week supply of water and food. Officials also urge Americans to make sure they have all needed prescription medications filled for that time period.

Specifically, DHS recommends:

Before a Pandemic

•Store a two week supply of water and food.
•Periodically check your regular prescription drugs to ensure a continuous supply in your home.
•Have any nonprescription drugs and other health supplies on hand, including pain relievers, stomach remedies, cough and cold medicines, fluids with electrolytes, and vitamins.
•Get copies and maintain electronic versions of health records from doctors, hospitals, pharmacies and other sources and store them, for personal reference. Get help accessing electronic health records.
•Talk with family members and loved ones about how they would be cared for if they got sick, or what will be needed to care for them in your home.

If a pandemic should break out in the United States, officials urge the public to take steps to limit the spread of the germs to prevent infection. Tips include staying away from those who might be sick, frequent hand washing, and avoiding touching your eyes, nose, and mouth with your fingers.

DHS recommends:

During a Pandemic

Limit the Spread of Germs and Prevent Infection (emphasis below copied from website, not added by writer)
•Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
•When you are sick, keep your distance from others to protect them from getting sick too.

The big water storage drums don’t work very well here. They’ll freeze straight through and burst.

Yes. The pool shock stuff is sodium hypochlorite. I’m suspicious of it though. I suspect it has other stuff in it. You can buy calcium hypochlorite 99% pure on Amazon — at least you could three weeks ago. Still available today, maybe.

From Amazon:

Calcium Hypochlorite”Ca(OCl)2” Minimum 99% Pure! 70% Chlorine. 1 Pound Bottle
4.8 out of 5 stars 10
$14.75
FREE Shipping

But only 1 in stock today. There were a bunch in stock three weeks ago.

Anyone who buys it should download and print instructions for using it. It’s very strong and very reactive with water and other stuff.

“Yes, those are obvious preparation that I suspect or would hope that everyone knows. What I was surprised about is the guidance regarding the quantity of water to store. Actually, I haven’t given much thought to it recently. In the past we had a 55-gallon drum of water. Now, with a move across the country, we’ve got maybe 10 gallons stored. Worth revisiting.”

Seemed like a lot to me too. But that all depends on where you live. We have snow and rivers. Pretty sure I can get to the river and back with 25 gallons pretty much whenever I want.

Thank you for being the voice of reason here.

I hope the people who are mocking preparations don’t have children or elderly parents depending on them.

I recall reading something about the virus surviving water treatment - but I have a hard time believing that.

And I don’t know it they are “predicting” it - but perhaps on the “it is possible”. So like others have stated - prepare like you would for an earthquake.

If it becomes real bad you could see disruptions in service. Fear of going to work and getting it. You are sick and can’t go in. A relative is sick and you have to care for them. School is closed and you have to stay home to take care of your kid. Lock down prevents travel to work.

All sorts of reasons for people to stay home - even from critical jobs like power, water, sewer, police, fire, etc.

You would be correct—and why? Because it is now well known- but not well covered in media, that the FDA is dragging it’s feet making approvals available to the largest private labs, with experts in the testing for virus (with specific confirmational reactants/growth markers). Why? because the FDA is absolutely risk averse, better to say no and let people die needlessly. FDA is NOT doing its job— which, considering they are supposed to be in close monitoring of national labs as it is, means the FDA is worried about egg on their face if a lab is approved and comes up with a poor test.

This is all unlikely— the best minds are NOT at the CDC, they are developmental scientists at private laboratories. The CDC itself, get this, has not designed a test of their own! The easiest test would be sputum into growth medium and confirm the virions (the interior genetic code of the virus bodies).

Coronavirus is already being studied as a having a fecal oral route vector. It has already been found to be in the feces and urine of infected people. The virus was spread from one floor to another 7 floors down in Hong Kong via the sewage pipes. The questions are one does a normal sewage treatment plant process inactivate this virus by the time of effluent discharge and if not does the potable water treatment plant chlorination or ozone process inactive the virus before it gets into the potable water system. If both are no then yes the water will be turned off. Also in a hard core quarantine water supply workers could be on lock down as well, no workers no clean water again the system shuts down. Most cities are down river from anothers effluent discharge Dallas drinks water that has been through ft worths effluent system in the trinity river Dallas also discharge effluent into lake lavon which is the source of most of west Dallas and all of Collin county drinking water they call it indirect recycling of water.

Ok, at least this hoax has put the other hoax, the climate change hoax, on the back burner for awhile.

There’s a new show on one of the foodie networks called eating history. It’s exactly what it sounds like people eating food hundreds or more years old. There is cases where tinned food yes actual tinned cans from over a hundred years ago was found and then taken to a food lab where they tested it for contamination, nutrients and metal.contamination. turns out if properly canned and sealed the food was still biologically sterile and safe to eat, having lost less than half it’s nutrient content. Taste well that’s subjective....

I posted this lat night and here again...

It is my theory that it is well known that there is no stopping this and the plan is to keep panic low, test only obvious cases, allow financial markets to stay as strong as possible as long as possible, all the while, prepare fedgov for radical measures they know will be needed anyway once medical care is overwhelmed. This explains military bases setting up facilities across the nation. POTUS said, when asked if US is prepared for lockdown/quarantine like China “were prepared for that and more if needed, but probably/hopefully not necessary”...something to the effect.

The word “prepare” was all over that presser

Masks...that ship sailed weeks ago ha.

Check this out can confirm real prices

https://dailycaller.com/2020/02/26/respirators-sell-out-ebay/

I have a couple of boxes of N95 3M thinking a few grand might be nice I could buy the CZ550 in 375 H&H I have my heart set on. N95 masks are useless against an aerosol virus with sub micron virus floating in every breath like measles virus or covid19 one only has to read the recent UC Davis releases to know they sent people home because they only were doing droplet transmission protocols not aerosol which requires N99/P100 or higher at the minimum. Positive pressure suits are the only PPE that’s totally effective against aerosol vectors. I’d part with my now use less N95s for the right price and keep my 4 P100 full face masks and fifty or so filter pairs from the Dallas Ebola era. Ebola is also sub micron virus when aerosolized in the later stages of the illnesses ask the cute Vietnamese nurse about it she was in full droplet protocol when she got infected N95 mask and face shields full gown and gloves it floated right through that N95 mask easy peasy.

Fecal oral is how norovirus spreads on cruise ships with nearly everyone getting a case of it. It is also one of the prime suspects of how the Diamond Princess had so many so quickly. Fecal oral is how day care centers get Norovirus and have to shut down all the time. When people have diarrhea they emit a plume of micron sized fecal matter into the air that can travel tens of meters think public bathrooms. Fun fact the smell of feces is not gaseous what the human nose registrars as fecal smell is actually the micron sized solid fecal particles emitted when people defecate think about that tasty tidbit the next time one is in a public bathroom and smells poo from the next stall that’s actually solid particles and if they have a fecal loaded with virus those particles are more than enough to cause infection. Ebola is transmitted this way that’s been confirmed in the last Ebola outbreak. It’s all about minimum viral load to initiate infection Ebola is something like 50 virons. It is unknown what the minimum load for Covid19 is but other coronavirus like sars or mers are similar to Ebola 50 to 100 virons a good inhale of a fecal plume has thousands of particles with tens of virons each food for thought.

They’re talking self-quarantine prep - if you have it but ain’t sick enough to be hospitalized, you need to eat w/o having to expose others to you with trips to Walmart.

Maybe add some industrial respirators from Lowes to the shopping list this time.

Good luck finding them. They're pretty much sold out nation-wide and going for insane prices on EBay and elsewhere.

I actually saw an EBay listing yesterday - $11,000+ for 10 respirators. (Not a typo). That might be an outlier, but the net is that there are just not enough respirators and they are sold out just about everywhere..

The most important preventative purchase from Walmart should be a bottle of 5,000 iu vitamin D3 gels
