The cruise liner is a decent example, I suppose, but I think the care received in a US hospital is far better than the care received in a Chinese hospital. Their government’s valuation of life is far less than ours from what I’ve read.
I had corona a few years back, and I know because I was hospitalized at the time, and they had to find out if a cold I developed was a problem. So, they tested, and it came back corona. They wore masks, put signs on my door, etc.
It truly was like a cold, and it went away after a few days.
We’re hearing that the worst cases are among the elderly, and I just read one comment that spoke of how huge smoking is in Asia.
All of this is just to say there are a lot of variables.
No Rush is NOT wrong! More people are dying from the regular varieties of the flu than Coronavirus! You can spin your bull sh*t all you want, this hysteria is helpful to NO one!
The coronavirus you had was NOT this coronavirus.
You had the ‘common cold’ coronavirus. There’s not really any listed morbidity/mortality data for that particular one as it’s so mild.
Best evidence is that THIS particular coronavirus has about a 2% mortality rate. Or about 1 out of 50 people die. Not JUST the elderly either. In this country that’s about 6-7million dead out of our population of ~350M.
Flu might kill 100K/yr.
Literally Googled “flu numbers CDC” and it showed a link to ABC and CDC. 29 million cought the flu, 280,000 hospitalized and 16000 deaths in 2019 - 2020. If my math is right, that’s a mortality rate of about 6%.
I have family in Arkansas who teach. Her school was closed for three days.

I’ve heard many on TV saying the numbers of actual infected are not clear. China withheld info and many assumed flu. So, we really don’t have a solid mortality rate yet. Nor do we know what better US care would provide in terms of lessening that rate.
I’m not anywhere near a panic stage yet. Folks should be taking the normal precautions for flu for this time of year, and that will be sufficient for this virus is what most talking head doctors on TV are saying.

Sorry folks but i do not agree with Rush on this. In fact, i am pissed off at him for coming out and saying what he said. Its plain to see he is only worried about the stock market and nothing more.
Trump said this would be over by April. Explain why Singapore has active cases with daily weather temps 80°-90°. Maylasia isnt even reporting any infected. Yeah right.
This virus is reinfecting people again after they are released from the hospital.
Rush in his weakened state from lung cancer is not going to fare well when he develops this

IMO what we are seeing Italy , South Korea and Iran is what was going in China in the early stages of outbreak but we were not getting any true numbers.
40 creamatoriums in Wuhan running 24/7 couldnt keep with all the dead and STILL they brought in another 40 mobile creamatoruims to handle the overload of bodies that needed dealt with.
I have no confidence in our govt protecting us. We have to be proactive and do it ourselves.

We’re all dead - AGAIN! For probably the 20th time in my 51 years on this earth. I’ve seen a lot of mass hysteria media cycles come and go. I think I’ll pass on this one.

The flu generally has no more than a 0.1% death rate. Those are generally the really sick and elderly.
If Rush is right about the 2%, and if this virus goes global (which looks quite possible), we’re talking 120 million deaths.
I’m thinking we need to buy calls on casket makers stock.

My bad. I used 16000 dead vs 280000 hospitalised which is 5.7%. Shoulda used 16000 dead vs 29000000 diagnosed which would be .06%.
