23 million still seems like a lot of people watching self important preens in a bubble.
But these poor ratings were HUGE compared to the ratings for the Dimocrat “debates.” Likewise, Dim impeachment closing arguments.
The only real surprise of the night:
Bobby deNiro was not on stage shrieking, cursing and threatening the president again.
I’m sure he expected to give another ‘by popular demand’ performance.
Well, I seldom go to.movies so.am.not familiar with the movies which are nominated, and also don’t know who some of today’s so called Hollywood stars are.
So for me, I’m.not going to be on the edge of my seat, eager to watch and see which movie I never saw beats out another movie I never saw, starring people I don’t know of.
No decent person wants to watch such a sordid Circle Jerk.
As long as the lefties own the awards the audience will continue to decline. When the industry somehow makes its way back to being entertaining it may be worth watching. Besides that, it is a great alternative to sleeping pills.
There are more than 23 million people in the country with an IQ under 80—bet I know what they were watching!
I remember when the Oscars were must-see TV. The opening number was usually some kind of fun surprise. It was also fun to see the glamorous gowns the actresses wore and who won and lost and who gave a great speech. I haven’t watched it in ages because the so-called stars have totally ruined it. I guess they don’t care; they’d rather be patted on the back by each other than get good ratings.
I peeked in when my mom was watching Joaquin talk about the evils of the dairy industry and the egocentrism of man, and quickly left...
I find it odd that a foreign language film won Best Picture. Did they do away with Best Foreign Language Film category? They wonder why people don’t watch... They purposefully choose the bizarre or cult films to nominate, I believe. They are mocking the public.
A bunch of sexual genius, ( friggin’-know-it-alls, ) hypocritical, ego-maniacs who get together once a year to pat each other on their backs and probably other places, too.
They are totally disgusting.
So in 4 more years, they’ll have zero viewers...winning!
Remember the good old days when this was must see TV?
Everybody watched
The peak audience was 57.249 million in 1998.
Is it true minute spots were going for $22.35? /s
Whatever. The Oscars is the biggest annual gathering of flakes outside of the supermarket cereal aisle.
I agree. Thats about 7% of the US population! Its still a huge number. If you had asked me to guess - how many people watch the Oscars every year, I would have said: maybe 1 million?
The whole idea of actors honoring actors, well, is there another industry that pats itself on the back every other week like these people are compelled to?
Each year they seem more like creatures from the mossy lagoon.
“IF” these people loved our nation and didn’t hate almost everything in it except themselves, just maybe I’d find it nice to watch people I could respect get awards.
Those days are multiple decades into the past.
It’s more like watching Satan’s Lieutenants get awards these days, the ilk that oozes from their mouths...
Succinct and accurate.
