President Trump is making good on his promises to “drain the swamp” and cut Obama-era holdovers from his staffs, especially the critical and recently controversial National Security Council.
Officials confirmed that Trump and national security adviser Robert O’Brien have cut 70 positions inherited from former President Barack Obama, who had fattened the staff to 200.
Since entering the White House, Trump has relied on staffs smaller than previous administrations and has noted how prior president’s had a much smaller NSC team.

It was his first rodeo in politics. His advisers should have been better at communicating that to him. Unfortunately most of them were also deep staters.
Verify BEFORE trust should have been the mantra.
He either already knew or he knows now.
Agree 1000%. This and some bad hiring practices (Omerosa, Scaramucci, et al) have been what has tripped up an otherwise great presidency. But really-not purging the swamp of the creatures he had e authority to purge was a big oversight. Obama did it. Clinton did it. He obviously didn’t understand the true evil nature of the swamp.
