She added that she felt “deeply disturbed” that the sheriff would want to tell law-abiding citizens that the media have their information.

I'm deeply disturbed that young Audrey isn't dancing the Spandau Ballet on the nearest handy tree or lamppost...

Sounds like the SF Chronicle needs to be sued.

“San Francisco Chronicle Editor in Chief Audrey Cooper told CBS13 that they have no intention of releasing license holder’s names or other private information.”

Then exactly why do you need that info?

Yes, you must sign a form acknowledging that your information is a matter of public record. You must also agree that that information can be given to any legally entitled entity.

So a newspaper is a legally entitled entity? What makes them legally entitled to that information?

” As a result, they have put our journalists in personal danger for their own political gain,”

No, you did that, you dumbass!

Target identification for harassment, doxing, red flagging, and confiscation...

Wonder how this hypocrite would react if her personal information were put out for public consumption?

What the gun owners should do is pool their resources, buy a billboard and put the names, addresses and phone numbers of all the idiots that work for that rag — with her name at the top of the list on that billboard.

How loud would she squeal then?

As one of those who’s personal information was disclosed I cannot begin to adequately express my outrage that a major newspaper from a extremely liberal city like San Francisco 100 miles away (who has abdicated it’s responsibility to protect it’s own citizens) has seen fit to obtain my information in perhaps the most conservative city in California without giving any reason for having done so. What’s next? In an attempt to publicly shame gun owner/carriers our information will be released resulting in criminals burglarizing our homes endangering us and our families. All of this by those ever vigilant in the protections of the First Amendment at the expense of we who cherish all of the Amendments.

The fact that anybody is "entitled" to this information is a clear indication that the licensing scheme is an infringement of the right to keep and bear arms.

Is the public entitled to know which books I read? Which church I attend? My medical records? How I voted?

The Supreme Court is woefully behind in its work to free us from this tyranny. They need to get moving.

= = = = = = = =

Probably yes if they are able to ‘harvest’ the info.

Then again, is it still illegal to know what YOUR KIDS are reading etc?

Sign in Sheetz stations must be 16 or old enough to have drivers license to pump gas.

We are at the stage that your 15 year old son can’t put gas in his grandmothers car BUT your 13 year old daughter can get an abortion or either can claim to be the other.

The Sheriff should, while giving the paper the names and information on concealed carry holders, give out the address of the Chronicle’s editor who did this, and suggest that subscribers and readers send her some mail with their opinions.

If the worm turns, get a bigger worm.

#52. Even better is getting the names of the paper’s employees (all of them including the top brass and owners), and doing a public information search of who is a registered sex offender, who has been convicted of any crime (from DUI to robbery to domestic abuse), and who has any outstanding warrants.

Payback’s a bitch. Let’s be the biggest bitch in the city.

Turnabout is fair play. Include home addresses if they are openly public.

I’m a former card carrying journalist (from DC to Vietnam) and I hate the scum who have poisoned a once professional and largely ethical avocation.

Today they can all go to hell.

Either you are ethical, competent, and honest, or you should not be a journalist, newspaper editor or owner.

The time has come to stand up for ethical, honest, and professional behavior from the media, or else they can pay the same price that they want to inflict on us.

I think most things you do that require the govt’s regulation are open for public scrutiny, which is why I don’t understand this rush to get concealed carry permits......LOOK EVERYBODY I HAVE A GUN.....

"I am deeply disturbed by how some sheriffs have handled a routine request for public information from a respected and established news outlet. As a result, they have put our journalists in personal danger for their own political gain,” Cooper stated.

That also is "public information," Miss Snip. It's been used to doxx others. Private citizens have no reason to trust the good intentions of liberal big city papers...I guess you're not as 'respected' as you think.
