“Any Enemy of Israel is an Enemy of Texas”
Israel Today ^ | January 24, 2020 | Ryan Jones

While kings and presidents came to get their pictures taken, Texas governor offered genuine support

We all know that one simply doesn’t mess with Texas.

Texas is now warning that anyone who messes with the Jewish state will likewise earn the ire of the Lone Star State.

Practical support beats photo-ops

While the visiting kings and presidents of the Western world were busy trying to be seen ahead of this week’s Holocaust commemoration event, Texas Governor Greg Abbott quietly visited a week earlier to show his support for Israel in a much more practical way.

The primary reason for Abbott’s visit was to scout for new Israeli technology for Texas to either invest in or purchase.

The trip was facilitated by Start-Up Nation Central, a local non-profit that exists to connect Israeli innovations with the people and regions that need them most.

Texas is already one of Israel’s biggest trade partners, and vice versa, and Abbott vowed that would continue.

“There is a connection between business in Israel and Texas that make both Israel and Texas far better,” he told the gathering in Tel Aviv.

Mess with Israel, you mess with Texas

Then if that’s true, I’d like to see him and Texas support the Saudis and other camel jockeys a little less.

Are you sure?

My family was here in TX when it was still a Republic. FWIW, I really don't like all the kowtowing to Israel by my Gov't, either federal, or state.

Forrest Carter wrote 4 great books.
Gone to Texas is better known by it’s movie name ‘The Outkaw Josey Wales”.
Just is good is the second book, “ The Vengeance Trail of Josey Wales”.
It opens in the small bar/store the first one ends in, about ten years after the first book ends. when 100 mexican troops pursuing apaches ride into town. They proceed to get drunk, shoot up the town, and mess with the bar floozies. As it gets out of town the local gambler tries to intervene and is shot down by the mexican troops. As he dies the Mexican Captain walks up to him yelling “ why are you smiling gringo, you are dying, you’re a dead man.” The gamblers response “ I’m a friend of Josie Wales”. The rest of the book covers Josie’s discovery of the massacre and his pursuit of the Mexican Calvary company. It’s the people of Texas, a long tradition of what’s right and fair play. Also their’s just some evil people who need killing so good people can live their lives.

Probably more pressing issues for Texas besidesf kissing up to a foreign country.

Name a few?

I guess Texas could sit back like it was a great fat ass subsidized state like the 49 biotches or go out and Keep it Great.

Yes, and he solidified the Republican control of Texas.

His family were Democrats, but he changed parties early in life. I have been Republican since I started voting. (I’m 72)

I’m not for that. But if Texas left, it would not be just Texas that would leave.

I want the subversive ComDems to stay out.

We have very old family traditions about similar times. Some of my ancestors came to Texas after the Civil War, whole towns went GTT. They could not stand the oppression in the years following the War.

Other of my ancestors were born in Texas during the Republic, and same group fought in the American Revolution. My daughter and niece are members of DAR.

Well, it is true.

The Saudi relationship is old. At times with many problems attached. Oil is in common.

It’s one of the greatest things you can pass on to your children, knowing your family history. My ancestors came to America from Scotland and settled in Darien,Georgia under Oglethorpe. My relatives still own their farms there. It was set up as a buffer between Savannah and Spanish Florida.
You should read the wikipedia entry, especially the colonial section. Doesn’t fit the narrative for rural southern towns. And we are good with horses, so I have ancestors that served on foot and mounted during that period. Read the Resolution of 1775. And today I believe that by buying goods from China, we support the abhorrent practice, implemented by another name, dictatorial socialism.
