When I was a kid, if we had mumps, measles, whooping cough, etc., the doctor would place a “quarantine” sign on the front door. He would remove it when he determined that you were no longer contagious.

When I was in the Army, I caught the chicken pox from my roommate and both of us ended up in quarantine at the base hospital for about 10 or 14 days.........Weird thing tho, the skin on the bottom of my hands peeled off.
