RESOLUTION AT LINK.

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-KY) on Monday released a resolution laying out the ground rules for President Donald Trump's impeachment trial.

Trump's team and the House of Representatives have until 9 a.m. on Wednesday to file any motions. The exception being motions to subpoena witnesses or documents. All responses filed to any motions have to be in by 11 a.m. on Wednesday.

The trial will begin at 1 p.m. on Wednesday. The House will have two days to make their case for impeachment but their time allotment cannot exceed 24 hours. After that, Trump's legal team will be given two days to make their case and again, that cannot exceed a 24 hour time period.

Once the president's team finishes their presentation, senators can ask questions but they are limited to a 16-hour time frame. There will then be a 4-hour argument split between the House and Trump's team. Deliberation will follow. At that time the Senate will decide whether or not to subpoena witnesses or documents.

If the Senate decides to allow either side to subpoena witnesses, the witnesses will undergo a deposition and then the Senate will decide if those witnesses will testify.

Once the deliberations are concluded the Senate will vote on each individual article of impeachment.

Below is the full resolution:

So now, we may need new witnesses, Huh Mitch? Why oh why, are you giving this unconstitutional sham any legitimacy? The house articles of impeachment should have been met with absolute ridicule because of the abhorrent way the potus was abused in this show trial. Besides, they aren’t worth the paper they’re written on since they have no real crimes of any kind even purported. Mitch, I knew you would cave like you always do. Always.

I, and millions of other American voters are sick and tired of this shit.

Excerpted from proposed organizing resolution:

4... Upon the conclusion of the President’s presentation,
5... Senators may question the parties for a period of time
6.... not to exceed 16 hours.

I expect the following would be one of the first questions from the House impeachment managers:

In August 1998, you [Dershowitz] argued that a president does not have to commit a "technical crime" in order for it to constitute impeachable conduct. What changed your mind, Prof?

I expect an appeal to SCOTUS, or rulings by Roberts that step outside being ceremonial or ministerial to follow shortly after my Lab sends me a thank you note for her kibble. FRiends, the Senate IS the court and sets its own rules. Jurisdiction is vested in the Senate, not in the Chief Justice. All rules and motions will be adopted/ rules upon by the Senate as a whole. There will be no rulings by Roberts, excepts as pertains to whether the rules adopted by the Senate. Bank in it. The rest is nonsense

If it is running Windows 10, right-click the empty desktop, and select Display Settings in the pop-up menu.

In Display Settings, scroll down until you see Scale and Layout, and the drop down menu that is titled “Change the size of text, apps and other items.” By default it is set to 100%, but you can change it here to 125% or even 150%.

See if 125% will be a better display for you. You can always change it back if you don’t like it.

Hope this helps!

I’m still trying to master my new laptop. 😡. The font is so small I can’t read it.

Hi Onyx,
If you're using Microsoft Windows 10 (I don't know how Macs work), click on the "start" icon on the lower left-hand side of your desktop, and then click on the "settings" icon, which looks like a Top-side view of a dandelion button. A menu should pop-up. Find "Ease of access" in lower left. Click on that a new menu appears. Click on "Display" to find font-size settings. There's a "slider" and text box for typing magnification settings--175% works for my old eyes. These darn new computers are made for young eyes.

The most significant “reveal” in McConnell’s plan is that any putative witnesses will be deposed first. This is to avoid the trap of the House Prosecutors (Dems) calling witnesses, offset by the GOP/Trump defense calling witnesses. If that were to happen, it is *very* likely that anyone the defense calls will simply plead the 5th, meanwhile any and everyone the prosecutors call will testify freely. By forcing the deposition first, McConnell will find out if the witness intends to answer questions.

I’ll go against all the hand wringing here and say this is going to go so smoothly the Dems are immediately going to start Impeachment 2.0

We don’t have the votes to just dismiss it.

I read that he has a kill switch within the whole affair?

Means that if the RATS start with their crap the motion to dismiss can be brought and voted on.

I voted for him to investigate politicians when they confess at CFR meetings on video... But I was disappointed.

Not one GOP senator should give this one iota of credence or legitimacy, and that’s exactly what they’re doing by not laughing in their faces and treating this like the joke it is. I mean, really.

I’d like to see SCJ Roberts run the articles thru a paper shredder on C~SPAN but I doubt that’ll happen either.
