Mitch McConnell Invites Nancy Pelosi to Sit on a Pinecone: “There will be no haggling with the House over Senate procedure”
The Conservative Treehouse ^ | January 8, 2020 | Sundance

Posted on 01/09/2020 3:41:29 AM PST by Texas Fossil

Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell delivered some bad news to Speaker Pelosi from the floor of the upper-chamber:

…”There will be no haggling with the House over Senate procedure. We will not cede our authority to try this impeachment. The House Democrats’ turn is over. The Senate has made its decision.”…

…Now, go make me a sandwich.

McConnell in video:

‘The 1999 precedent does not guarantee witnesses or foreclose witnesses. Let me say that again: it neither guarantees witnesses nor forecloses witnesses. It leaves those determinations until later in the trial where they belong.

‘‘I fully expect the parties will raise questions about witnesses at the appropriate time. I would remind my friends on the other side: I strongly suspect that not all the potential witnesses would be people the Democrats are eager to hear from.

‘‘So the Senate will address all these questions at the appropriate time. That is for the Senate, and the Senate only, to decide. Period.” (read more at link)

Very good video at the link.

OK. The Turtle finally woke up,

It is time and time for the ComDems to be fully exposed.

My gut tells me that Pelosi will never present the impeachment to the Senate. For good reason, it is total BS! Lacking any credible charges.

The Turtle has gone a great job with judges and has had held fast throughout the impeachment nonsense.

I dont’ care if it’s because he has an election coming up or whatever.

As long as he does the right thing.

Maybe Trump’s courage rubs off a little.

The Turtle just told Nancy “up yours.” You have no say in our business. Go get lost.

McConnell is defending the Senate as a separate body.

If he gives into Pelosi, it sets a precedent that the House can control what happens in the Senate.

That would be a bad precedent

You are a master of understatement. That would be so much worse than “bad”!!

Loved the speech he gave week or so ago when he correctly called the HoR the Lower House.

A subtle reminder of who is who.

You have grossly misunderstood the situation. I had, too. I had NO idea, but no idea whatsoever, that we have to PAY for the impeachment. But I learned it today when I saw Nancy Pelosi say it. I learn many things from that fine lady.

Did you know that? I did not. And I am amazed by the parameters of my ignorance.

That is how the framers viewed it. That is why senate elections are not every two years.

Our constitution is remarkable. A bunch of rabble rousers turned a piece of land into the greatest power on earth.

They don’t need Pelosi to bring them over. Just print out the impeachment papers over at the Senate and start without her.

The two chambers became rather similar after the 17th Amendment. They should at least remain separate, though.

I hope so. Trump deserves credit for a lot,.

And is not appreciated at all by the RINO’s and hated by the ComDems.

He wears that as a badge of honor. I salute him for it.,

Yes. Long over due.

Very direct.

Even the ComDems “get it”.

And the subtle threat about witnesses they may not like. Is more than a threat.

Pelosi ‘s a little control freak who thinks SHE gets to make the rules for the House AND the Senate.

What a jerk.
