But I can understand it, as a retired Army Officer I have been trying to get my wife an green card since 2011 and still no joy.
There needs to be a trusted sponsor option.
This makes things a bit more clear.
That puts her arrival date at 1988.
Why didn’t she participate in the amnesty back then? It continued on through 1990 or so.
Was she outside the parameters to be eligible?
If not, guess who is to blame for this.
Sorry bud. Your mom set herself up for this.
It’s not inhumane to enforce the laws that are enforced on others.
A whole lot of dreamers are vulnerable right now.
Who knew?
An illegal alien got deported. No downside to the story. None. How many lifelong Democrat voters did she breed while living in the country she invaded?
It was completely inhumane to allow her to remain in our country illegally for 31 years, and we should solve that problem by deporting all illegals now. No exceptions. Get them back to their real homes before they put down roots in our country, or at least before they put down deeper roots. Thank God that President Trump is making new “migrants” wait in Mexico while their claims are processed so we won’t end up repeating this major mistake.
Could it be because you are living in Thailand?
Five years as a second lieutenant?
Something way wrong there. Maybe he was enlisted first?
Anyway, having a son in the Army is not a ticket to citizenship. She hasnt applied in the 30 years shes been here?
What is the Army doing commissioning people whose parents are here illegally?
Out.
It is sad parents do this to their children.
America is supposed to be a nation of laws. Does this 2nd Lt expect enlisted servicemembers to do what he tells them? If so, why?
My understanding is that the deportation criteria being implemented at this time is a sweep of the criminal records...
5 years in the army and 2nd lieutenant? Something is foul.
That there needs to be a remedy for just this type of instance may be true...um.. does it escape everyone that she has been avoiding our legal system far longer than he has been in the service. could his service be just another attempt to legitimize her staying in the US illegally?
With all due respect, that appears to be an apples-oranges comparison.
She’s been deported multiple times and the son joined the army only to try and keep his mother from being deported.
A 2nd lt for 5 years?
Assuming the son is a citizen, he could have sponsored his parents. I think the fly in the ointment is that being here illegally messes up that process. If she had stayed in Mexico in 2009, and followed the rules, she could have been legal by now. I guess the problem is that they think the laws don’t apply to them. And we’re supposed to weep for this story?
Re: There needs to be a trusted sponsor option for my wife.
Does that mean you are NOT a trusted sponsor option?
Anyway, she can get a six month tourist visa every year as long as she can prove financial ability for six months.
Or, she can get a student visa for two years at the cheapest junior college near your house.
At first glance, my instinct says you have not told us the full story about your wife’s immigration case.
My family came here as British subjects and then fought in bloody battles to become new American citizens. That is not what could be called "founded on immigrants."
Every nation on earth has the sovereign right to determine its own citizenship and residency laws...and the US is no different.
31 years and couldn’t bother to become a legal resident? Where’s the outrage? Right here bubba! I have outrage for all those, wherever they come from that feel it’s OK to skip in front of the line bypassing everyone following the rules and our laws!
31 from 2020 is 1989 as I recall several times since 1989 there have been several opertunity to come forward and become a legal resident of you choose not to take advantage then you live with the results. Sorry Lt. You have sworn to obey and in force the law, something that you mom chose not to.
