And the Russians are deeply imbedded in Damascus. They’d know if Soleimani was coming and going...

Putin was so grateful for US help with a terror threat, he did a "retro quid pro quo" and tipped off POTUS about Soleimani in Baghdad. That'll be in the next installment of "Peach 45."

How great that would have been. That would be some kind of payback for his years of stabbing America in the back.

In veiw of the Democrat’s no-holds-barred-get-Trump-at-all-costs tactics that we’ve witnessed over the past three years the Iranian collusion theory is entirely beliveable. They will do anything to remove him.

I always felt that the ‘protest’ at the US Embassy was a starting point to create unrest in Iraq. A long term campaign get get the US out of Iraq. Hostage taking would not be out of the question.

Trump took out the leadership of this movement last week.

Now this morning Iraqi Parliment has voted to expel the US from the country. To me, it sounds like there is a 5th column in the Iraqi government.

What actually happened was that Trump, with no military background and no known loyal advisers, made a measured but completely laser-focused, warlike response to an attack, which has been overdue since 1979.

He did not waste billions attacking a baby milk factory in the hopes that there would be no civilian casualties that would make the “allies” mad.

He did not launch the neocons dreamed-for multifront attack to bring about the fall of a regime which probably has the support of 95% of its people.

He acted like a real-life Michael Corleone, settling the family business.

The article mentions the attackers were meant to take hostages.

It would be better to nuke Tehran than allow one American to be taken hostage...

Trump definitely does not react the way a Bush or Obama would. He gets things done and in the open quickly and leaves his opponents holding the bag on how to react without looking like feckless losers or unhinged crazies. He’s the counter-puncher Republicans and conservatives have dreamed about since Reagan.

The big difference in the US favor is that 2020 Baghdad is not 1979 Tehran.

Back then, it was nigh impossible to coordinate an on-the-scene response to the crisis due to the distances involved in overflying unfriendly territory. We tried and it failed spectacularly because the plan left no room for error. Ross Perot was hailed a hero at the time because he found a way and assembled a team to extricate a pair of employees out of Iran.

But today, we have assets and allies throughout that region. The US embassy in Baghdad (and Iraq) is well-within our sphere of operational reach (Benghazi in Libya was, too). We just put a brigade of paratroopers in downtown Baghdad. And with an ease and speed that was unthinkable in 1979.

It took 40 years, but the BS games of the ayatollahs and tin-horn despots have finally brought the US in as close neighbors. We’ve shown our ability and resolve. They can no longer be sure that their next great provocation won’t be their last. Why now would they risk it?

They can no longer be sure that their next great provocation won’t be their last. Why now would they risk it?

Possibilities:

1) They are desperate due to the sanctions.

2) They think the Impeachment has paralyzed us.

3) They just can't help themselves.

4) Some of each of the above.
