I knew Bernie well before he was elected mayor by a bunch of drugged up out-of-staters at the University of VT. He was a filthy hippy, sleeping on park benches.

That election was another example where Republicans screwed themselves by splitting the vote among three candidates. Ever since then, we’ve been a magnet for all the whack jobs from NY, MA, NJ, CT, DE, RI and CA.

I grew up in Connecticut and I had an uncle who lived in Burlington. We used to go up there every summer in the seventies and eighties, and enjoyed going to the beaches and fishing along Lake Champlain. It truly is a beautiful state despite its far left politics.

Bernie is in favor of bank fraud—when it is done by his wife.

Some pigs are more equal than others.

I remember seeing people catching some big sturgeon in the lake. I truly enjoyed summers in Vermont.

It's yours. You got dibs for asking first.

Fairness, equality and socialism. How can Bernie say no?

Now, Bernie, competition does not necessarily “destroy” anybody. It makes two, or more, parties stronger, as they play up their strengths and the management keeps its head in the game. The objective is not to “win” and crush the competition, it is to prove, on a daily basis, that you can do something positive for the potential customer base.

It was much different in the 60’s and 70’s - when common sense prevailed. Then the progressives started coming and the courts finished us off. I haven’t given up yet, but I live in an area where neighbors are close friends and criminals become either ‘missing persons’ or, out of respect for their families, homeless.

I don’t understand how a guy making only $175,000 a year can afford the taxes, upkeep and staff to care for (3) Three houses..../S

Well said, alloysteel.

And just as Bernie decries Capitalist competition, he's fiercely competitive himself.  Of course, we should never accuse Bernie, the Millionaire-Hippie-Commie of being inconsistent. /sarc

To Lefties, "competition" is a dirty word, much like the other hated word, "corporation".

But a corporation is a cooperation of people whose self-interests align -- for the benefit of themselves, the shareholders, and society.

And even if a cooperation should go out of business, it's not as if the employees are crushed.  They simply need to find alternative employment.

And as the failed company goes to its grave, the unregulated magic of market supply and demand frees up human resources for other companies to grow and better serve what the public wants to buy -- as that evolves from useless Paul Krugman economics books... to Hello Kitty necessities.

Ron Kubi’s fond of calling the DNC the “Democratic branch of the capitalist party”. Lie down with dogs, wake up with fleas.

Nobody cares. Immigration and demographic change pose more of a threat than socialism ever has.

Actually, Bernie is a Capitalist. He just believes the State should control the Capital.

What he is not, is a believer in Free Enterprise.
