I'm from GI, too. Loved it there, but had to sell home I lived in since childhood from 1961, in 2012. First year taxes after it transferred from estate to me, were $18,500. Best schools in the state, but there was never a school millage they didn't like. Union mentality caused a lot of problems. I did tell a group of Teamsters on picket at Wyandotte Electric in 1994 to go F themselves (me female, 36 at the time) when they asked me if I really wanted to go in there.

Detroit radio talker who got me interested in watching politics,

Wow, that's a name I haven't heard in years.......Same with me. A close friend's son turned me on to Mark and Rush around 1990.

I saw him in person once at Freedom Hill where he was the guest speaker at a fund raiser for Larry Nevers.....

Yeah, I saw him giving speeches at the Allen Park civic auditorium a couple of times. I was at the Ann Arbor tax protest that he did with his friend Dave Franklin in front of the FED building. I was there at the funeral home and saw the eulogy he delivered for his (part time talker) buddy, Don Kostyu (committed suicide...sometimes I wonder). Afterward, I went with a lot of people to Don’s house for the luncheon. I had a chance to talk to Mark briefly and thanked him. Mark was a Marine, and a great advocate for America. It all started when my wife told me, “you’ve got to hear this guy”. She listened to him on her Sony walkman while she was doing her Detroit Edison meter reading job. Every once in a while I could pull him in on my radio after he left Detroit and went to New York for a stint.

He was a big advocate of Ayn Rand’s Objectivism. For my screen name I used the letter of my name and the fictitious character in Rand’s novel Atlas Shrugged.
He challenged guests important and not so when they called into his radio show. There were so many who hung up on him in mid interview/call. They couldn’t handle the heat. HE REALLY was “the spin (lol) stops here” guy. Mark would’ve torn that catchphrase to shreds.
