That’s the question, really though. When it comes to it, do they want a customs border with England? Or, do they just want to assert themselves?

I am not so sure that is a bad thing. Listening to some English commentators letting Scotland go would be like like us dumping CA. It is a bastion of Leftist poltical activists
The human capital left in Scotland sadly is questionable. The value of their resources largely rises and falls on the value of the oil in the waters around them. Oil-driven economies don’t have a great record for advancing democracy, honesty in government, and the welfare of the average Joe. Right now however Boris’s parliament is unlikely to give them another vote, so they may well get to see how they like their post-EU life before they get to vote on independence again.
