And therein lies the main problem between Democrats and conservatives. Democrats try to make the world as they wish it were. Conservatives deal with reality.

The “war” in Afghanistan was over pretty quickly. Continuing the Global War on Terror and the insurgency and then ISIS followed.

Just like Vietnam under Johnson with their daily body count reports.

When Iran started supplying IEDs used against our troops, the war should have been expanded to include Iran....the world and Democrats be-damned.

Bush was weak and walked on egg shells....Obama shackled our troops with insane rules of engagement that prevented victory.

Once again, we fought a war by trying to be “nice” instead of just winning by breaking their spirits.

You break their spirits by killing anyone remotely supporting the terrorists and destroying their mosques, meeting places and sources of income.....like oil fields and refineries. To hell with the environment....those things can be fixed after the victory is assured.

It was, and still is, winnable. We just do not have the stomach for what would be required. Specifically, confronting and eliminating the fatalistic teachings of the koran.

Our Admirals and Generals receive a lot of pay and benefits to win our wars.

Maybe we need to take a closer look at the military promotion process.

Are we giving stars to people who can win?

I recently read that they were going to start giving IQ tests to Officers for promotion.

About damn time.

“We will recreate the American mid-west in the Middle East. We have bikini beaches and hot porn, and because THEY DON’T...? They hate our guts and are jealous.”

That thinking is a perfect formula for remaing in the Midde East and fighting FOREVER.

Which, yeah, is the goal of the crew which has hijacked our country.

And if you let out a single peep in protest?

They say you’re a HATER.

Then all the Generals and Admirals that field these false reports should be court-martialed.

Confidential documents reveal U.S. officials failed to tell the truth about the war in Afghanistan

I am reminded of the movie "Charlie Wilson's War".

The founding fathers warned future generations about “foreign entanglements” and alliances. If only this nation had heeded George Washington’s advice in his farewell address.

The founding fathers also feared standing professional armies for a reason. They will be used if they exist. The vision of the founders was to rely on citizen militias for defense of the homeland. They would only be employed if there was an actual threat to the homeland.

We have a standing army deplored all over the globe for what reason. The average American is more likely to be injured or killed by one of the millions of people illegally streaming across the border each year, or one of the “refugees” our government brings in to this country and resettles at taxpayer expense, than the Russian army in Europe, the Taliban in Afghanistan, ISIS in Syria, the rebels in Libya, or whatever insurgents military advisors are consulting about in dozens of African hell holes. The recent Pensacola attack shows the threat is inside our borders not outside. Bring the troops home and fortify the border. Let Europe, Syria, Iraq, Saudi Arabia, South Korea, Japan, and the rest of the world deal with its own problems.

It is not un-winnable but as President Trump has stated, he could win it in two weeks, but he doesn't want to kill 10,000,000 mooselimbs.

My question is why not?

I'd call 10 million a good start on solving the mooselimb problem.

Is there any truth to the somewhat believable rumors that our troops were guarding the heroine trade?

Winnable?
Nobody has ever been successful in Afghanistan since about 330BC with Alexander the Great.
Why would we be any different?
