This is the link to my sons Eagle Scout Project documentary about USS Arizona survivor Lou Conter, one of the guests of honor this am.

It was reported on that show that the message to warn everyone arrived eight hours late.
Is that at all true?
Thanks for posting. R.I.P. Thanks to all who have served, all who are serving and all who will serve in the future and their families. America’s greatest BUMP!
(how long before that memorial offends someone and has to be torn down?)
Thanks for the great post. I brought my wife there about two years ago and she was very impressed with the new visitors center and the Arizona memorial. I was there 40 years ago and it is certainly upgraded since then. Great job by your son.
God bless!

RIP to all the Sailors, Soldiers, Marines, Airmen, and civilians who were KIA that day. You were avenged. And we will not forget your sacrifice.
Maybe we need some reparations or some kinda chit like that.
anti-Japanese racists./s
Today the Japanese pilots would have been guest students and would have taken off from Hickam to start the attack.
I remember the day, listening on the radio in a friends home. I was only 9 but it was something that stayed with me . I hope the young today also remember important parts of our history. Its said that history begins the day you are born. Its my hope that is incorrect.
I’m one of the few Freepers (or people in the US for that matter) who remembers that day. I was 5 years old. Mom, Dad, and I were having Sunday dinner at our neighbor’s house. I finished first, and was allowed to go into the living room and dance to music on the radio. I heard the announcement of the bombing and went in and told the adults. They were terrified.
My dad, like every other man, volunteered for service but was declared 4F because of a heart problem. He became one of the many “dollar a year” men.
My Uncle was there writing out Xmas cards to send home to New Jersey when he heard all the commotion. He told me a few stories about that day.
Y'know, that midget sub was sighted by a US amphibious aircraft, a PBY.
I've been in contact with Lou Contermy sister has visited them at their previous home.
Lou, an "Enlisted Pilot", who had previously survived the USS Arizona attack, was my Dad's co-pilot.
They had to ditch the "Black Cat" PBY, due to fire on board. All aboard swam to a Japanese-controlled island, had native support, and were rescued by PT boat.
